A jack has been unplugged???

Twice in the last 24 hours, a message has come up on the bottom right of the screen saying 'a jack has been unplugged.' A few seconds later, a window comes up asking me what I have plugged in. I have removed nothing and plugged nothing in! Does anyone know what this means or has my computer got a mind of its own?!

Sounds like a soundcard is detecting that one of the jacks states have altered. I get a message like this when I plug in headphones top the front socket.

Try unplugging anthing attached to the front and back sound ports, get the plugs a clean then plugging them back in. You might have a loose connection.

Usually to do with speakers or headphones, so make sure there's no loose connection with them.

Does your PC have no sound?

    Try upgrading the sound drivers.

Try the usual restart and see if it happens again. May just be a strange and unexplained glitch. Or ghosts.

The sound comes out of the monitor's speakers

Oh and I restarted both times as well! As long as it isn't someone trying to hack in I can live with it!!

Which are plugged into the soundcard! Unless they are magic speakers ;)

Chances are you've moved the monitor and pulled the cable slightly out.
