It would be nice to see shots of and hear opinions from the participants families. After all if it weren't for the participants there wouldn't be anything for Beckham and his kids to sit and watch.

The fact that the athletes family tickets were tighly restricted while the likes of Cameron, Beckham et al seem to be able to get in for each and every event they choose to is just taking the p*ss out of the people who really made these games a success. The athletes, the spectators and the Council Tax payers of London.

Sod off back to the States Beckham and take Cameron and £ord Coe with you.

This has been a worldwide success and folk are still moaning.

Victor Meldrew is a ray of sunshine compared to some.

What?!?! I'm no fan of Beckham, and I do think he's over-hyped, but c'mon does he take drugs, does he get pissed up all the time, does he utter dubiously racist stuff, is he rude or obnoxious, does he not work hard for his success, do you know what epitomises means?

    Don't patronise me.

His greed, obsession with fame, courting publicity and his desire to use his sport to promote off-field interests is the biggest single factor in this bloated, disgusting world of football we have today.

His face is a stain on the wonderful delight these games have been over the last two weeks.

The media are pushing him forward constantly. OK, so he is an ambassador for the Olympics but nonetheless, he is not an actual Olympian and we don't need to hear his opinion on every subject. He will hold no more knowledge of some of the sports any more so than the 'mere mortals' who have gone along to watch.

We don't need to see endless shots of him and his sons sitting in the audience.

One thing the Olympics has proven is how arrogant, overpaid and underachieving Beckham's mates in the football world are. He is no saint either. We could do with fewer of them being revered like demigods.

I've heard so many people saying this over the past week or so and it's true. Most, not all but most, footballers in the Premier League are vile, arrogant, self obsessbed, money grabbing wastes of space. Special mention goes to Wayne Rooney, John Terry and Ashley Cole, I can't think of three more unpleasant and deeply unlikable people actually.

As for Beckham well I know for a fact he's not whiter than white either, but it's not what you know it's who you know and all that;)

I think he was an average footballer who could take the occasional good free kick, but he's done very well for himself out of it - mainly through marketing his brand.

But I don't understand why he is treated like sporting royalty - especially during an Olympics where there have been plenty of people reaching greater heights that he ever managed.

The Beckham for Team GB media campaign was just embarrassing.

He also seems to have done quite well out of the randomly allocated Olympic ticket lottery...

If Beckham had been a bit uglier he wouldn't be the ''icon'' is he.

That undie advert is just self promotion and ego boosting. The knickers aren't being advertised. Its just a ''wow look at Beckhams body and face'' . You wouldn't even think it was an advert for underwear.

Makes me sick. Cannot stand his wife either.

The word "icon" can at times be subjective so I'll tread carefully - Beckham is my OH's all time favourite footballer, I don't think that's because of his looks :o Have his looks help propel him to international fame? Yep of course, but being pretty ain't going to score him goals or help his free kicks on the pitch.

And as for the undie advert, what can you say? Armani paid him a lot of money to model some pants  I'm a little confused by your points to be honest, unless you expected him to model the pants over his jeans with a nice little jumper on? Besides that, Freddie Ljungberg looked miles better in his Armani ads in my opnion. Scorchio!

I actually think "Brand Beckham" detrimentally affected his footballing career, especially during his time with Man Utd and probably in his international career too although to a lesser degree.

What about the campaign did you find embarrassing? I'm intrigued.

I don't know how much of the Olympics you have seen but I have seen loads of interviews with competitors families trackside/waterside/poolside/in the studio....? And in pretty much every event there has been shots of the families watching on, has it ever occurred to you that maybe you didn't recognise them because they're not famous?

The athletes families had to buy their own tickets to watch their son/ daughter compete.. Whilst Beckham etc just walked in and why have his kids been given passes? They did nothing for the bid. It wouldn't hurt these multi millionaires to cough up for extra tickets.. I'm not a fan of Beckham and the fact he hasn't lived here for over 10 years and has no intention of coming back really annoys me. Let's see how often he appears in the UK now there is no sporting event for him to be pictured at

Blimey sorry to patronise you, yeah there wouldn't be one Olympic athlete who has tried to cash in on their success. Not seen the likes of Pendleton, Enins Bolt in any adverts, your quite right, what a scoundrel.

David Beckham represents the worst aspect of sport - pure commercialism.

Wouldn't be surprised if his 7 star hotel was paid for from the olmypic budget.

How do you know he didn't pay for tickets? I don't care for him but this is getting ridiculous.

Oddly, I have barely noticed Beckham and I've watched a huge amount of the Olympics coverage. Perhaps that's because I'm more interested in watching the athletes than having a begrudging pop at random celebs who happen to be the focus of a bit of attention.

7 stars, now that is excessive, I agree with everyone now.

Honestly he did play a part in getting the Olympics here, and he's watching it, so what, c'mon people.

    Completely agree with this.

I've watched the majority of the Olympics footage and haven't spotted him that much. I only realised he was at the BMX racing because Gabby Logan said last night.

They were all wearing official passes.. Plus they were sat in the Olympic committee seats. Also at every event he has been at the BBC Have shown him.
I will have a "pop" same as many others have .. I'm not on my own
The families of the athletes deserve a seat more than these celebs.. It is they who have sacrificed a lot to get their son/daughter to the level they are..

How can you possibly know this?

And I want to re-iterate, unless there was a true, blink and you miss it moment - I watched every second of the BMX footage and the camera never panned to him and he was there!

I have to be honest I don't know how the seat allocation works with regards to the athletes families and unless someone can come and fully educate me then I won't comment. I would hope that those of you who are commenting are fully educated and know what you're talking about.

That is because you and I (and most people I imagine) were too engrossed in what was happening on the track to give a flying fart about who was watching from the sidelines. Shame on us for not caring! ;)

Honestly, moaning about the disparity of the ticket distribution at this stage is such a pointless exercise. It's hardly David Beckham's fault and it just seems so petty and begrudging.

One person I was sick of seeing even more than Beckham was Cameron, always getting his red Pilsbury face noticed at all the top events and being snapped with some of the gold medal winners, high-fiving Prince Harry, doing a Mexican wave, etc.

No wonder Cameron is so keen to milk the hard work, goodwill and success of others, since politicians are amongst the most unpopular individuals in the country. Their contribution is only to sap the lifeblood out of Britain. He's a total **** who should spend less time pretending to known about sport and playing games on his ipad.

He has worked so hard to promote, support and help to make these Olympics the success they have undoubtedly been.

He is loving every second and his joy is apparent for all to see. I don't begrudge him one second of it all and if the BBC want to show his happiness, pride and unwavering support at every opportunity.......good.:D

It'll be all over tonight anyway.

His wife's presence tonight though doesn't enthuse me at all.:(

    Absolutely agree with this post.

I really like DB and can't understand the nasty comments. Jealousy maybe?

Oh I SO agree with this comment - bet Cameron wishes the Olympics could last forever, the feelgood factor it's generated. Certainly took the heat off him and his poxy government these last 2 weeks.

Due to being stuck at home due to a medical issue I've watched and enjoyed loads of events so that's how I know... And to answer other comments .. I was deeply engrossed in all events I watched and that's why I was fed up of him and other

As for the families tickets.. Some where begging for tickets to see their sons/daughters in finals.. Barry McGuigan put an appeal out on twitter a few times for the families

So you saw him at the BMX racing then?

And to clarify, you know every event Beckham went to and you subsequently saw him on telly?

I'm going to assume, seeing as you have omitted to say, that Barry McGuigan was talking about the boxing finals?
