Very disturbing indeed, a Gallup poll in 2009 of 500 British Muslims, reveled none of them believed that homosexuality was morally acceptable. Another poll revealed that 28% of British Muslims hoped that Britain would one day become an Islamic state.
They may have said that in a poll, but I think the reality is quite different.
It was different when I lived in the Middle East and I guess more so now.
Not that it matters so much to this discussion because Islam has a long way to go in accepting basic rights.
Well - we're talking about extremism here, but what's disturbing to me is how so many so-called moderate Muslims hold these highly offensive and utterly immoderate views.

With such a small representation for these polls I would be more inclined to read it as 343 people out of 500 think this, 26 out of 500 think that rather than the 76% of 2.6million think something or whatever the figures are.

I see disagreeing with homosexuality as extreme and highly offensive, yes. We are meant to be a tolerant society, but the problem is that a certain group of people are trying to make us less so, by saying they disagree with people being gay; that women should cover up etcetera.
If it was an accurate representation of different Muslims from a wide variety of backgrounds and ages etc, then yes. That's how all polls work.

The ones my wife worked for were lovely people and we have socialised with them.
The head guy in the Indian is a top guy at the mosque, couldn't meet a nicer guy.

Did you ask them what they thought of Sharia law in the UK? Did you ask them their thoughts on Hell's fire and homosexuals?

The really baffling thing is why in this modern age, are Muslims holding onto their religion more than Christians. It's an age where atheism is rapidly spreading, yet Muslim and Islamism does not appear to be dwindling.

I saw a programme where an African chap was holding his newly deceased baby, who died from a lack of food.....he was saying that it was gods will.......he was surrounded by suffering, death and disease.

To be honest though, I'm not convinced that the EDL and Britain First have triggered much UK motivation - certainly not enough to trigger recruitment to ISIS. They are weak and comic organisations. Few take them seriously.
It's the sense of alienation from the host country that I think plays a big part. A friend of mine (who is as moderate as it gets) is pretty fed up of seeing anti-Muslim stuff on Facebook and Twitter. Imagine experiencing a constant drip drip drip of that ever since 9/11, and a surge in it every time there's an incident. As an intelligent person he hates ISIS and other extremists because they cause him nothing but grief, but if he were a bit of a numpty, easily led, or had a screw loose you can imagine how the foundations are already there for recruitment.
On topic: whilst very tragic, as ever, the IS fanatics won't get what they want this way, never do, they'll just get hit harder. They're on a collision course with their own demise and likely know it, citing some jihadi party in 'heaven' as the aim because they can't make jack out of life on Earth. All this gets fanatical loons nowhere. They were subjecting Iraqis to allegedly the same treatment and they'll continue until they get shot or bombed into the shape of a carpark.
