Tyger Takes On.... Porn - BBC3

Cuckoo and Outnumbered star Tyger Drew Honey turns detective for BBC Three as he tours the UK, reporting on issues affecting young people in Britain today, in this three-part new series.

Across three shows, he explores the issues of pornography, relationships and dating, and body image. {source}

First show will be broadcast at 9pm on Thursday 15th May.

It sounds very similar to the recent 'Porn: What's the harm', which was also on BBC3. Jameela Jamil presented that show and I thought she did a pretty poor job, so hopefully Tyger will be better in this show.

Also, I did not realise that Tyger is the son Britain's most famous porn star, Ben Dover.

It's not just his dad that's a pornstar, his mum Linzi Drew was too!

This could be interesting. I wonder if Tyger will have a different perspective because of his parentage.

Apparently both of his parents are scheduled to appear in the programme. I'm not sure I would have the courage to talk to my parents about this if they had been invoved in the porn world/adult industry. Especailly at the age of 18.

    Ah, Tyger Drew-Honey.

The only kid in the country whose mates actually ask to see his Dad's home videos.:D

I'm going to see this, if only because Ben Dover is actually quite a witty bloke.

Looking at the write-up for the program it appears to be asking the usual questions, so I hope that Tyger can bring a thoughtful, open-minded perspective to the discussion.

I reckon a lot of people will be watching the program simply because his dad is Ben Dover, so hopefully they will be open-minded too.

Be interesting to see this from a young persons perspective, as in someone who is most likely a porn watcher. And someone who comes from parents who are well aware of porn.

Unlike Jameela a late 20 something Mary Poppins wannabe who hadn't watch porn for 12 years. No thanks, love. You know nothing.

Hs father went from being a porn star to a copyright troll. His former profession was more acceptable in my eyes. Vile individual.

Seeing her face is just the deterrent young boys need to stop self abusing.:D

I'd rather bang Madge from Beindorm than knock one out over her.

I'm watching. I think it's good that it's being presented as a bit jokey (with the ad lib bits that Tyger does) as it's such a taboo subject, but it's really interesting. I think Tyger is a good presenter - what are the next 2 episodes on?

I really liked tyger in this. When I read the article about it earlier on DS it didn't really do him any favours and I thought he seemed a bit weird but I was pleasantly surprised.

I really hate the idea of my son growing up with access to hardcore porn. I'm sorry if it makes me a prude but I really think the government should just block it all from the Internet. People who want it can revert to buying it from x-rated shops and going to strip clubs so it's good for British small businesses as well.

I wouldn't watch anything with someone with such a utterly stupid name. I bet the kiddies love him.

Why don't you be a parent and protect your child from such things rather than inconveniencing the rest of us? Sick of parents thinking it's the government's job to bring up their offspring. If you can't be bothered to control what your child's looking at on the internet then that's entirely your fault.

If you don't want your son to have access then don't get an internet connection, they're not compulsory. Alternatively you could monitor his access or have a conversation with him about porn and its potential pitfalls. It isn't the government's job to raise your child.

I hate the idea of crap parents expecting society to mollycoddle their children because they expect everyone else to pick up the slack they don't want to when it comes to responsibly guiding them. A legal guardian implies a lawful obligation to protect them, a social contract between parent and child. Your kids? Your responsibility, not mine.

You don't want him to have access to porn? Then buy some software to block that content or perhaps stop stigmatising sex as something forbidden and instead bore him with the reality of biology, the science of reproduction and the truth that sex is just sex, it's not that special or exotic, it's part of life and something that happens everyday.

If you want to assume the rest of us have an obligation towards your son's upbringing, then feel free to consider some of our views. However if you want to protect your child at my expense because you don't want to read some instructions and install some apps, that's not something I am willing to suffer at my expense because of the lack of investment you're showing in your own guardianship as a lax parent who wants to set standards for their kids while expecting everyone else to suffer the consequences because of your failures, as if I should be denied access to adult material as an adult because you don't want to do a better job as a parent or guardian.

You think the government should do the job you don't want to at our expense? Then make him a ward of the state, absolve yourself of duties you don't want to undertake or enforce, realise you wanted a child but not a lifelong obligation you have a duty of care towards and do us all a favour rather than make us suffer because you want state level intervention and prohibition rather than do a better job for yourself and your child. You achieved the biological imperative driven goal of reproducing an heir to carry your lineage, you just can't be bothered to do the after-work and expect someone else to do it, Sorry, this isn't a last minute task at the end of a work week you can palm off on the intern, this is a life long duty you should have clearly given more thought to if your solution to a problem with your child is not "Make the government sort it out!" Move to China, they already do that and if that's your way, go there, don't make us suffer here.

I agree about Tyger. I think he did well in the show.

I however disagree with the second part. I don't agree that all porn should be removed from the internet. It's not that difficult to put blocks on your internet connection so your son can't access it.

I don't think my boyfriend shouldn't be able to access porn on the internet because a stranger doesn't want their child to watch it, personally.

I did not agree with the bit where a girl talked about her boyfriend who watched violent/rape porn and it increasingly reflected on their actual sex life. It seemed to suggest that watching this on the internet taught them about sex and that this violent/rape stuff was normal. I have watched porn since my early teens and have been aware of this type of porn existing. Out of curiosity, I have watched such material, but it did not appeal to me, in fact I found it a complete turn off. I think that this boyfriend was drawn towards this type of porn, but the reasons for this can be very complicated. One possible reason I have heard many times is due to being brought up in family where they witness a violent/abusive relationship between parents. Anyway, I strongly believe that he would have those tendencies regardless of whether he watched this type of porn or not.
I wouldn't watch anything with someone with such a utterly stupid name. I bet the kiddies love him.

You're not watching it due to the name of the presenter?

    Totally agree.
    Don't want a nanny state.
Do want parents taking responsibility for their duties.
