    La Separation (1994) 7.5/10

Starring Isabelle Huppert and Daniel Auteuil

Love both the lead actors but I really didn't like Hupperts' character in this film.

Severance - Group of people go on a team building exercise and stay in a cabin in the woods. But wait! What's this?! There's a madman loose in the woods and he's picking them off one by one?! Yes, the plot is that original. Truly awful film, but I had to keep watching so I could tick off each stupid horror cliché as they appeared - by the end I had filled 15 sides of A4 paper.

Lady Vengence - 8/10 thid film in Chan-wook Park's vengence trilogy and probably the weakest. Loses momentum towards the end and doesn't have the explosive twists found in the previous two films, particuarly Oldboy (10/10)

Splice - 6/10 started off pretty good but then got stupid three quaters of the way through and then set itself up for the most non anticipated sequel ever at the end

Blade Runner - The Final Cut on BluRay

Staggering doesn't cover it. Looks like it was made this year. One of the best transfers I've seen so far. This release has just made the worlds greatest film even better.

Suspicion - Decent film, but bad ending. Although apparently Hitchcock wanted a darker end, but the studio made him do a happy end instead. Joan Fontaine was pretty awesome.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

Tim Burton's Sweeney Todd, with Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter and Alan Rickman. Not a musical type of person, but I just love this. Yeah, I know, it's been slashed a bit (forgive me), with songs missing and stuff, but as a film, it still works great for me, with great acting, twisted scenes, good sets, make-up and costumes, and some dark humour added. Nice viewing for Xmas Eve. How seasonal. ;)

Fantastic Mr Fox - 6/10 Interesting mix of tones as it tries to bridge the gap between adults and children. Quite poor stop motion animation hampers its appeal somewhat.

It's a Wonderful Life - colour version on Blu Ray - stunning, just stunning. Ordinarily I'm not a fan of colourization of classic movies, but they've done an absolutely superb job here.

Somehow they've taken a near-perfect film and elevated it even higher. Bravo!

    Watched a couple...

    The Quiet Man - 6/10
Mamma Mia - 4/10 (music is good but the storyline is rubbish. I think it's better on stage - my school did it one year and it was much better)
Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason - 6/10

Two of these I only watched for a few minutes before getting fed up with them.

A Christmas Carol - 8/10 Robert Zemeckis's astonishing CGI tour de force, let down by an unnecessary incredible shrinking man sequence towards the end. But brilliant technically and visually. Watched the 2D Bluray version.

Shrek Forever After - 8/10 Fourth in the Shrek series and still as entertaining and watchable as ever. Maybe not as funny as previous entries, but entertaining never the less.
