It's not algebra. The guy was just using signs which were too complicated for you to understand causing you to give an earful to anyone who tried to explain that you were barking up the wrong tree.

    In totally unrelated news the average man has been educated to A-Level standard while the average woman has only got GCSE A*-C whatever that means.

    In the theme of the thread....Did it really 'matter' to pull me up on my use of the = sign? honestly...did it?!!!

    I wasn't giving anyone an earful...I was saying 'who cares'?

    Curvy = Sexy!
    Cuddly = Fat!

    Does that really need picking on for the 'incorrect' use of a mathematical sign?

    In other news women have finally given up on 'men'...there's no hope!

    You're giving someone an earful now. I would say the ! signs are a clue but I'm afraid you may accuse me of picking on your grammar too.

    If you don't understand why Curvy!=Fat isn't the same as Curvy=Fat then it's probably a waste of time pointing it out to you.

    I'm questioning you....that isn't an earful

    An earful would be a tirade

    Are we here to talk about the thread subject? or pull each other up for spelling and punctuation?

    Heheh :D

    And he wasn't picking on you for your incorrect use of anything, he was correcting your incorrect interpretation of mine.

    ! = = ≠ i.e. does not equal / is not equal to. I was saying that curvy women are not the same as chubby woman in a jokey dig at the poster I was replying to.

    Of course I can understand that...

    Ever heard of a 'keyboard' error...you know...where you press the wrong key first?

    Just get back to the subject and stop riling for the sake of it.

    Who do you think you are....? If you don't understand why Curvy!=Fat isn't the same as Curvy=Fat then it's probably a waste of time pointing it out to you.

    Get over yourself...no need for it.

    He wasn't calling you out on a keyboard error, he was trying to be helpful, read my last post.

    Yes I understand fully that I put an ! mark in the wrong place....

    Now what I'm trying to say is...I pressed the wrong key first...

    If he was genuinely trying to be 'helpful' then I apologise but in the theme of thread it came across more as being pedantic.

    Can we get any clearer on this?

    Exactly.

    Whatever you like. If you're going to call me a pedant though, I hope I'm allowed to defend myself.

    As far as the thread subject is concerned, Steve's Factoid came from what looks like a press release by the Office of National Statistics revealing the average height, weight and earnings of men and women in the UK.

    I don't think it's a slight on women's appearance in particular because averages don't really work like that. It's another maths thing.

    No, no, no. He's not and you didn't.

    I thought it was a slight and someone said it wasn't...read back through my posts and you'll see me saying

    'Oh ok..good man'

    An acknowledgment that I didn't understand that person's post..

    So to cut a long stoy short....

    Somebody was talking mathematics

    I mistaken key'd in Curvy!=

    So you then thought I was talking back in mathematics?

    I wasn't talking back with Maths, I didn't realise anybody was, so my keyboard error is now being pulled up as mathematical error for incorrectly placing/using the ! sign?

    Is that what's just gone on and wasted so many posts?

    For the third and final time. You never made a keyboard error, and he's not saying you did. His posts were not being pedantic they were being helpful.

    I get...

    Just the hilarious thing in all of this is i did press the wrong key...

    Any reference to maths was totally unintentional...

    What a muddle eh?

    So back to my original point.....I don't think curvy is a bad thing and means 'fat' at all...

    Probably rendered useless as the post wasn't stating that.

    If you are 5ft 3, your ideal weight is probably well under 9 stone. OH is 5'5'' and 9st 2, looks mighty fine to me. She's a size 10/12 depending on whose clothes we are talking about. Her BMI is mid range.
