Why doesn't this surprise me? Just because he may have enjoyed it,doesn't mean that everyone else does.

Some bits I agree with and some I don't,

Where does Dawkins say he enjoyed it and everyone else did?

Richard Dawkins said something like this in The God Delusion. To be fair I don't recall him saying he enoyed it, but he was dismissive of it.

We know how many Atheists have read that book on here; so this will come as no surprise to them. When I brought this up a few years ago, they didn't appear to think the comments that bad.

He wasn't speaking as an atheist, just as a victim.
    I don't agree but then I'm not a victim.

It is interesting that an atheist is forgiving of being a victim of practices which are endemic in religious institutions, and he is the one that then gets criticism for it.

Why is he referred to as one of the worlds best known atheists? I've never heard of him, but I'm sure many of the famous people I have heard of are atheists.

Does he make a career out of being such a common thing?

You could say he makes a career out of it considering the books, articles, commentary and other addresses he gives on the subject.

From what I can gather, he is talking about his own experience and comparing it to what he sees as higher levels of abuse experienced by others. To be fair, he shouldn't assume the level he experienced wouldn't have long term effects on anybody, just because he cant speak for everyone. Other than that, I see no need for outrage.

An implication is still an implication whether or not the word 'may' is involved.

I bet you nearly came in your pants when you saw something Dawkins said you could misrepresent on here...

I respect Richard Dawkins and I believe he has a right to express his opinion. In some ways he is correct imo. The cane and the slipper were not regarded as child abuse in days gone by although measured against today's standards they clearly are. Using children for sexual gratification has always been morally wrong though, at least by the standards of this country.

Possibly because he is the world's best known atheist.

I don't think it's anything to do with him being an atheist. You could just as easily say any of the following:

    Man makes light.......

    72 year old makes light......

Public school educated man makes light.......

    Author makes light........

    Biologist makes light........

    Oxford graduate makes light........

etc., sorry what was the OP's point?

What's the relevance of being an atheist? Do paedophiles only target children who don't have religious beliefs?

WHY did you make that choice - you could have also said "Richard Dawkins..."

My point is that your point is meaningless as you've simply linked one thing to another in your own mind. There's nothing to suggest you have a point.

Judging by your OP, you didn't read it either.
