Very interesting question and I also wondered if he was too recent as he is still in living memory for many people. Give it maybe 50 years and then he might be considered.
The Bank of England has a big list of names submitted to them of suggestions for inclusion on a bank note and you wonder how many on there have not been used before.

Who the hell suggested Robbie Williams be put on a banknote?!
There are much better bands etc to put on there than him.
Why not Freddie if we have to have a Queen on them may as well make it the good one
I think that may be a step too far for the establishment.
You beat me to it.

There's about as much chance of putting a divisive figure like him on national money as there is of his supporters spelling his name correctly.
That said I wouldn't mind Lennon on a tenner.
It was the free world that was lucky.

i see blairs education did a lot of good lol
the younger one's would not know who he was. or how to spell his name..
Well I can see Mr Blair never taught you to use capitals if that helps.
Maybe Enoch on the fiver, Benjamin Zephaniah on the tenner, Shami Chakrabarti on the twenty and popular dance troupe Diversity on the fifty.
All Prime Ministers have a Wikipedia entry. That alone shouldn't warrant their inclusion on a banknote.
How about you read it, or do a google search, or read a history book.
How comes my thread has suddenly been bumped up.
He will be on the new £5 note.
Rejoice.

Not until 2016.
In 50 years time physical money will be almost if not completely obsolete.
Looks as though you got your wish ~ well done
