will be watching , wonder what chosen subject will be ? shes brave its a nerve wracking show
The 'real' one is ~ the celeb version is so ridiculously dumbed down that a child could win it! I'm rather peeved if there's ever more than 2 or 3 general knowledge questions on the celeb version that I can't get, and the specialist subjects are often pretty simple too. Mylene's Klass's 'specialist subject' was series three of Sex and the City, for crying out loud

I agree. I never thought those in charge of Mastermind would dumb down the programme for celebs. The celeb version is a joke.
If this happens in the real version it will lose all its credibility and viewers.
Hahahaha.. have to agree on that.. Still curious what Kristina's subject will be though!
Strictly Come Dancing series 6-8?
I'd love it if Kristina turned out to be an expert on Dostoevsky, the Russian Revolution or something similar, but I suspect she'd still be asked dumb questions about soaps and the like anyway, and the less she knows about such junk the further up in my estimation she'll go
She seemed to be struggling for something beginning with "K" as in Kiwi and just came out with Kangaroo.
She seemed to do better on her specialist subject but she was answering questions in a foreign language about foreign general knowledge.
I felt a bit bad for her as John Humphreys talks quite quickly and she was clearly concentrating really hard on picking up what he was saying.
E.g. the 1st question was something like "Which female popstar has the real surname Ciccone?" and that threw her (and me a bit watching at home). It sounded like "Whirr pop stir buzzzzzzzz buzzzzzzzz buzzzzzzzz chick on knee". (A - Madonna)
She comes across as very bright, but it wasn't the best show for her.
Oh - but she still did loads better than that Homes Under the Hammer guy!
I thought she did very respectably. Some of the questions are so long that by the time John Humphrys has finished reading the question, you've forgotten what was being asked. It must be much harder to keep concentrating when you're answering in your second language.

She did just fine!!! - and, lets face it, much better than most of us would do on the Russian version - if there is one! Well done her
A question the other evening: 'Wannabe' was the first single released by which girl band?
Seriously, knowing the answer to that does not qualify you as a MASTERMIND in my book!
But it does test General Knowledge provided mixed with questions on other subjects. I hate the type of quiz on Radio 4 where there is too much emphasis on the classics - it is taken for granted that the contestants can quote any line from Shakespeare or know every aspect of Greek mythology but they will have no shame at failing to answer the simplest question about science or anything involving modern general knowledge. I don't think it is too much to expect someone to have general knowledge of Bach, Beethoven, Madonna and the Spice Girls.
The Celebrity Mastermind is an entertainment programme over the holiday with prize money going to charity. It would not be on BBC1 is all the questions were about obscure subjects only known to some Oxford Professor. It is always interesting to see how well the most unlikely people sometimes do on the programme.

But isn't the whole point of Mastermind the fact that it's supposed to demonstrate that 'ordinary' people (i.e. not Oxford dons) are capable of having spectacularly advanced specialist knowledge? Otherwise it's veering into the territory of 'National Lottery: In it to win it' or other general quiz shows. Not that there's anything wrong with trivia quiz shows, but Mastermind's USP is the fact that the questions are incredibly difficult and the whole set-up, from the imposing black chair to the menacing theme music, is designed to impart an air of intimidation and seriousness. I don't see a place for the Spice Girls in all of that.
It just raises a wry smile that they have to dumb the celebrity version down in order to avoid damaging any delicate egos. I don't dispute that it's an entertainment show for charity, but maybe they should call it 'Celebrity Trivia-head' instead.

Kristina had ballet training as a girl, in the Gorbachev and Yeltsin years. My guess is "Russian ballet".

No, Patrick Swayze
Kristina: Pass!
She did quite respectably. I can pop it on youtube if no-one else does, probably not till tomorrow night though.
She didn't do too badly though.

I don't understand people saying she was
Yes, she was. At 7pm BBC1 - Celebrity Mastermind. Original Mastermand BBC2 8pm!

Patrick Swayze.
Damn, I caught the last 15min of the one on BBC2.
On the other hand, I did do almost as well as Pam Rhodes on her so-called 'specialist' subject of Christmas carols
