We've just cancelled Sky so need something to fill the hole! It's about time we entered the 21st century and got into downloading stuff but we're complete ludites so need some help. Our tele is ancient, do we need a TV with a USB port to watch stuff from Netflix?? Is Netflix even worth bothering with or is there a better alternative??
Cheers in advance.

other options are media players that connect to your TV that have netflix support.
it's £6 a month and content quality varies from crap to acceptable.
don't expect it to completely replace Sky, as it won't.
How do we go about doing that?
A lot of DVD player have netflix software on them, and there is an app avilable for xbox / ps3.
I have Netflix and Lovefilm at the minute, Netflix has more content that I like, but Lovefilm is updated more frequently and has weekly picks etc.
Although saying that, the Netflix US service is even better if you figure out how to work it
based on your previous responses, it's way over your head (don't take that as a dig though).
netflix is better for tv series, do you have a game console/ computer nearby? you can run them through that, we got our netflix through our old Wii and it works perfectly.
You have to fool Netflix into thinking you're in the U.S. by using a service that provides a DNS, like unblock.us or a VPN service like hidemyass.com. It explains it all on those sites about netflix.
why, netflix is available in the UK, £5.99 a month. There are also details on how to stream online on the site,

Because there's alot more on there.
The us content is much better. I was amazed when I was over there at how muh more there was
You'll need a lot more than 5gb bandwidth per month if you're going to use Netflix constantly when I was streaming Eurosport to watch the tour of spain cycling I used 36GB. Netflix say that broadband speed can as low as 0.5mb but I can't imagine you'll get very good quality on that. On the other hand there's a free trial, try it and out keep an eye on your bandwidth limit.
Sweeping statement, there. Well done!
Obviously it's not to your liking. Each to their own.
Probably not worth doing if you have a data cap on your broadband though; you could easily get carried away and exceed your monthly allowance (unless you are very disciplined!).
I'm just working my way through some of the US TV shows, I'm particularly enjoying Revenge and Scandal.
I signed up for NOW TV also (the Sky service) but after the 30 day trial they charge you £8.99 per month and then £15  It really isn't worth it, most of their films are available on US Netflix.
If you setup a US proxy service for a few pounds a month, you can watch legal sites like Hulu for free for US TV shows.
well you're breaking the terms of the agreement.
