o2 reception problem - iphone

I'm hoping someone can help with my iphone problem......
My OH has an iphone3gs on o2 payg, shes had it since last October, and over the last couple of days has had problems with it finding any kind of reception. I also have an iphone 3gs on payg O2, bought 2 months ago, yet despite us both being in the same room i don't have a reception problem.
Also i regularly get 3G reception, yet if she's in the same place with me, at the same time, her iphone doesn't get the 3G signal.
Both phones have the latest software on it, and I can only think that its a problem with her handset.
If anybody else has had similar problems or know of any possible solution it would be greatly appreciated.
