I thought they were great ambassadors for Ireland and I loved the way they would inject a bit of Irish trad music into their songs:D
Andrea's voice was just so distinctive to me....that sultry, clear tone of hers was to die for!

Here are my favourites from them...

Only When I Sleep

Runaway

Long Night

What Can I Do

Love To Love You

Forgiven Not Forgotten

Heaven Knows

Remember
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4t3YbqHr-mw

Closer

The last two songs are more of their obscure ones but probably my ultimate favourites from them:)

Any other fans of them?

i really loved them for a while.:o the first two albums were especially good though, but it went downhill from there unfortunately for me.:( still love "what can i do", "runaway", "i never loved you anyway", "forgiven not forgotten", "only when i sleep" and to a lessor extent "breathless". i also do agree that andrea is a talented vocalist.:)

I agree about Forgiven Not Forgotten and Talk On Corners being by far their best albums.
In Blue had some good moments too but Borrowed Heaven didn't really do it for me (Long Night is the only song I really loved from that album).

Their cover of 'Dreams' is my all-time favourite version of the track.
    'Runaway' is just beautiful.

oh i totally forgot about "radio",:o the unplugged version is great and definitely one of my favourite tracks from them. actually, after "runaway", i kind of forgot about them and i remember a vh1 special aired between the first two albums with them playing live in a studio. i bought "forgiven, not forgotten" shortly after that.

It's funny how they left it really late to break into the UK market after being successful in europe for years beforehand. I think it was Dreams in the summer of 1998 that finally served as their breakthrough in the UK.

The Unplugged album was great. Nice, natural and lended itself well to their style of music. In Blue album they tried to go more commercial and appeal to the American market by bringing in Robert John "Mutt " Lange as producer. Which was dissapointing. Thereafter they were never able to get back on track.

I appreciate people liked them but that period on commercial radio when all you heard was the Corrs, Texas or Robbie Williams just reminded you how bland music had become.

I loved their cover of Dreams. Haven't really heard many of their other songs though.

One of my favourite bands were the beautiful Corrs. Summer Sunshine was my favourite

I could be wrong but aren't two of their albums in the top 20 sellers of all time in the UK?

Edit: Talk on Corners has sold just shy of 3 million in the UK alone:eek:

I like to listen to them on my Compact Disc player in my Ford Mondeo, along with Eric Clapton and Dire Straits.

Don't worry, there'll be another Justin Bieber thread along any minute you can participate in if that's more your sort of thing.

Loved The Corrs' first two albums, especially the debut. I love how they incorporated traditional Irish music and instruments into catchy pop songs. Later on I wasn't so keen on the more commercial sound they went for and thought a lot of their stuff was really bland. The pop/traditional Irish crossover is what made them distinctive, I thought and they returned to that with their 2005 album Home. Sadly no one seemed to care much about them anymore by this time. Pity as Home is a lovely album where they returned to their Irish musical roots. They're all such talented musicians.

Btw, what's this about Jim Corr being a "nutjob"?! In what way?

i can understand the negative views, they made inoffensive pop music somewhat outside of what was happening at the time in music, so the bland comments are hardly surprising. its kind of like the recent success of adele, her music is hardly cutting edge and she is often considered bland, but it was a welcome relief for many people tired of the generic chart hits.

saying that, the corrs smashed through in the uk with the remix of "dreams" and then they went on to a string of remixed hits, so there was a kind of crossover appeal. i think the success of the singles confused the group on which way to move the sound forward on the next record and it was at that point things began to unravel.
