Noticed on the webcam a few days ago a massive fence around the gardens/square, why? surely it's not for the New Year celebrations? bit early to put a massive ugly fence - and was there not a fair? can't really see it in the webcam.

Seems like it should look pretty nice when its done, which is a surprise for something Westminster Council are involved in. But as always its going to take ages longer than it should.
Many thanks for the plans - appreciate you posting the link.

They had the fair earlier in the year instead.
Ludicrous that (1) when this work was initially proposed the key problem identified with the square is the location of the fountain stuffs up all the events, so it was going to be moved south a little, but now they don't seem to be doing that (2) that they can possibly take so long to essentially lay a few new paving stones and install new benches.
Typical epic mismanagement from Westminster council.
Isn't it typical that whenever you go to a major city on holiday, there is always scaffolding or building works going on the major sites.
