News headlines today, a pensioner has died in hospital after her care agency left her for nine days without food, water or medication.
It appears the agency closed down after being raided by the border agency looking for illegal immigrants.

Presumably this agency had other clients that were covered by an alternative means.
It will be interesting to see how this poor old lady was missed.
Here is a link to the story.

Private care companies were sanctioned and used by the past government.
Nothing at all to do with David Cameron.
This is down to THIS government.
This is heartbreaking. it is not the first time this has happened and it makes me so embarrased to be British. to know that someone has starved to death hear in a country where everyone is supposed to be important and properly cared for. This country used to lead the world in so many ways, social care, NHS, welfare and so on. David Cameron has so much to answer for. In my opinion he has vertually undone all the good that had been established over the past 40-50 years. I look at Britain today and see a Dickensian Britain. The errosion of what we once called Great Britain.:(
I'm sure the people to blame in this harrowing case however, were the management of the care centre who failed to ensure that the unfortunate people on their books were cared for after arrests were made.
FFS, what has this got to do with this case?
A more likely scenario is that had the last government not had such a blase attitude to immigration and illegal immigration, fraudulant operations like the one closed down wouldn't have believed they could get away with it.
This place wasn't closed because of a lack of funding - it was closed for breaches of policies regarding immigrant workers.
It could have happened at any time - under any government.
Also have to add.
In Dickensian Britain it was probably more expected that relatives of the old and infirm had some responsibility for their welfare.
Erosion of Great Britain?
To an unbiased outsider it would probably make more sense to see losing an empire and the country split (Scottish devolution) as an example.
I daresay history will decide that.
.
It's about time the local councils took back responsibility for services like these - instead of contracting out to companies whose only motive is profit.
I suggest the woman WAS being properly cared for by the private agency. It was the responsibility of whomever took control of the client list when the authorities shut the firm down for employment irregularities. I presume local social services must have had a hand in that, Those and the council.
So much for your idea to put it all in the hand sof the local councils - eh?
She had carers calling on her four times a day.
This is a 24 carat cock up by whomever took control of the firm's responsibilities.
Terrible how our health cares fails so many,:(
It's the same in hospital they don't care either if your old they do the Liverpool care plans checks on you if you don't meet criteria it's curtains.
I'm not disputing that. I was merely commenting that she appeared to have nobody other than the carers, and when they stopped she had no-one to advocate for her.
Cameron is doing his Blair impression, globe trotting, making a name for himself now because he has eyes on an international career once he leaves office, he is so very generous with our money overseas and we have elderly people neglegcted both in hospital and the community because local authorities and central government will not fund care to an acceptable level. We can dish out money overseas, support children who don't even live in this country, support god knows how many feckless young people while our elderly are abused.
Never mind boasting about how generous we are to international aid, or how proud we are of the tens of millions we spent on the Olympics, it is in everyone's interest to be outraged and demand better care for the elderly, because it can only get worse. The local authority must have screwed up because presumably others on the care agency list got their care, and shame on the family of this poor lady.
Well yes and my point wasn't directed at you. Sorry if you took it that way.
You'd be surprised just how many people there are of all ages who have nobody. It's more common with old people because the people that they did know may have all died.
How that poor old lady must have suffered. Waiting day and night for someone to come and help her.
