Defining Songs of Summer 2010

I know it's not nice to think about this (for most people; not me), but as we head towards the end of August, what do you think will be the defining songs of Summer 2010 in years to come?

My nomination goes to Nothin' on You by B.o.B feat. Bruno Mars. It's in a summer-friendly key and style and is very radio-friendly.

FTR, you don't have to limit your choice to just one. :)

Katy Perry - California Gurls (must be the obvious choice)

Had it not been the 5th single to be released from the album, Pixie Lott's Turn It Up would've been a definite summer anthem.

Whether you like it or not, it just has to be California Gurls.

Airplanes too, even though the song always makes me think of Autumn.

Rihanna Rude Boy :) genius album and a real classic uptempo with Dancehall influence, it reminds me of the 90's with the rhythms and the inconspicuous lyrics too, just a mesmerising tune!

also,Te Amo by Rihanna, again Riri's answer to Madonna's La Isla Bonita, almost as classic and definitively equally refreshing and beautiful.

The XX's Islands, again absolutely LOVE their album and Islands entrances the listener just brilliant on so many levels.

Robyn's Dancing On My Own is just brilliant also, a real classic synth pop masterpiece of a tune!

and B.O.B's nothin' On You is brilliant!

Love The Way You Lie (not exactly summery but it's the biggest song this year so far imo)

Mine is Commander though, best song Kelly has ever released!

Yes, Edward Maya's "Stereo Love" is definitely the song of summer 2010 for me. It really hit its peak over here around June time too..slap bang in the middle of summer.
I love "Nothin' on You" but wasn't it released earlier in the year, no?
Also, "Rude Boy" was released way back in March I thought?

Anything really since April/May, cos those songs are still played on the radio through July/August. They don't necessarily have to have been released during June-August.

    Unbiasedly;

    California Gurls
    Airplanes
    We Speak No Americano
On a lesser extent; Pack Up by Eliza Doolittle has been a steady smash.

Those have been the biggest hits this summer.

None of them, I don't think, come close to the impact 'I Gotta Feeling' and 'Sex on Fire' did in their respective years though.

I don't picture people belting them out during freshers week, put it that way. ;)

Yeah, Rude Boy still receives A LOT of airplay, at least it did last month when it was still very hot and I would always hear that song being blasted out of people's cars. This to me is why this song has defined summer apart from the ones that were released recently.

    Califorian Gurls is shit.

This years summer song is easily Eliza Doolittle - Pack Up, not the best of songs but it is probally the only good, decent and happy feeling summer song out this year.
