I think Elaine is more likeable than both Rachel and Monica

Friends, I find Jerry Seinfeld too awkward to watch, I'm sure it's funny enough, and I really like julia Louis-Dreyfus, but I didn't find anything Seinfeld said funny because he was so awful an actor.

Even when he popped up in 30 Rock, he was awful.

I always thought Jason Alexander (George) was the most interesting character and Michael Richards (Kramer) was the funniest perhaps. Seinfeld was the title character but he was in some ways essentially the straight man to the other characters.

I preferred Seinfeld, Frasier or Cheers to Friends.

    Seinfeld's the only sane character

Seinfeld all the way. "The Bet" alone was a masterclass on how to approach a risque subject without even mentioning it! The one in which George and Jerry are mistaken for being gay was also a classic.."I'm NOT gay.....not that there's anything wrong with that!"

As I've watched more and more of Seinfeld on Sky Atlantic, I'm beginning to maybe think Seinfeld is better

Though I do need to rewatch Friends again

Friends? Is that the one where people keep looking back and saying 'Oh?' and everyone laughs a lot as though something funny has happened?

Whereas of course, Seinfeld is in the Sgt Bilko class.

I've watched Friends for many years but when I discovered Seinfeld it was no contest. BTW The Contest is an excellent episode for those who haven't watched it to start with.

    I've never seen it............

Don't know why as I used to watch all the new US sitcoms as they came along..............but I never started watching Seinfield and actually haven't watched any of them for about the last 10-15 years

Maybe I was all US sitcommed out

Tonight's Sky Atlantic Seinfeld episodes illustrated what an unsympathetic character George is perfectly

Interestingly enough, I think that Kramer was the nicest Seinfeld character. He was never intentionally rude unlike the others

One thing which made Seinfeld better was that unlike Friends, it remained as brilliant until the end. The last 3 seasons of Friends are focused on emotion rather than actually being funny

Friends for me,Never found Seinfeld remotely funny

Larry David eventually got it right with the superb "Curb your Enthusiasm" though:D

Closer than I expected the poll to be. In my opinion, Seinfeld is so much better than Friends that it's hardly a contest, but the latter has much more exposure and thus popularity in the UK so I would expect it to lead a poll like this. Seinfeld could have been way bigger here if it was actually shown at a decent time etc., though I kinda like having it as a show that I love but not many people that I know have heard of or watch :D (though that seems absurd seeing how massive it was in the US.
