The viewing figures for the LBC debate were miniscule so much so that opinion pollsters had difficulty finding a thousand people that watched it to make any of their opinion surveys about it meaningful. Yesterday's BBC2 debate would have got a higher audience because it was on a mainstream channel.

Have you got the figures and link to this? Sky news said they had ten times the viewers during the debate! I would appreciate the link to where it quotes the figures for LBC and Sky! I know that the LBC website crashed due to the amount trying to access it.

YouGov were quoted last week saying they had difficulty finding a thousand people to survey that had seen the debate. I'm sure there's a Press release or blog on their website.

Aww Chin. You can still pop in regularly for a chat.
It isn't compulsory to listen to LBC. I rarely do these days because it is now so different to the LBC that I loved. We don't want to lose you.

    Precisely -

I would have thought virtually all of us hop from station to station otherwise it would be like listening to a endless stream of repeats from Ferrari all the way into the early hours :)

I certainly do because I can't stand the the repetition. If I've heard LBC in the morning then I won't be tuning in in the afternoon.

The only repetition I like is Steve Allen because he's hysterical. What's not to love about a man who comes out with such marvellous lines as ' I was standing in the fruit and veg shop cos I like it in there ... '

    Radio Gold ....

My listening is a mixture of Absolute/Magic/LBC ..... Totally given up on Smooth which is so incredibly boring these days ....

Rubbish Martin. If you rang Adolf Ferrari and went against the "Rupert Murdoch is God" mantra all he would do is mutter under his breath.
Try ringing up Iain "1 Round" Dale to state that Thatcher wasn't a genius. You wouldn't get 2 seconds.

You obviously know - because you have tried ?

Why is it when people dislike somebody else they start childish name calling?

Who is "Adolf Ferrari"? We have Nick Ferrari on the station. It is bad enough when they have more than one presenter with the same name (Iain), but to have two with the same surname .. !

Oh, I thought you were quoting facts! The BBC got over a million viewers which were lower than the previous debate on Sky and LBC. Surprised they didn't find enough people from the first debate to ask.

I'm finding Galliard Homes are making LBC quite unlistenable at the moment.

I have decided with regret to relinquish my esteemed position as King LBC Foamar to Martin. :( Unfortunately the station's new(ish) format of non-stop right wing politics I find upsetting and it doesn't agree with me. I rarely listen to LBC these days. Even Mystery Hour and Nick Abbott I consider past their best. Mystery Hour is spoilt by James trying to answer every question and Nick is more political and less fun. It's been fun while it lasted and I may visit this thread from time to time. I mainly listen these days to James Whale on BBC Essex and BBC Radio Kent and Paul Miller on BBC Radio for the south. as well as Up All Night on 5 Live. Also Radio4. I am still interested in hearing of updates re LBC and keeping in touch with my LBC friends. :)

Chin, it's a tough call and I hope you still manage to drop in on here from time to time, but you're probably doing the right thing. Staying with a station you disagree with so much will just drive you up the wall.

Maybe in a few months time after a break you'll find you can dip in and out again occaisionally to see if you can bear it.

Not sure about that James Whale show btw. Tried it for the last couple of weeks on your recommendation before Ferrari comes on but it's very trite sort of local yocal stuff. He does interact well with all the studio guests though.

Hiya chin, had a long busy day so only have just read the thread. I shall really miss you if you decide to vanish, really I want to make that clear and others no doubt feel the same.

I can't stand all day news and that's regardless of political bias. Mostly I play Heart or any music station I can find for relief, when the topics on LBC keep being regurgitated throughout the day - far too concentrated and frigging boring all told ;-).

Please have some second thoughts before leaving the forum entirely. Remember this, your humour has kept some of us going on here!

Just remembered for no reason about the 'psychic' Clive used to have on his show weekly. What a con! He said things to callers like 'Isn't it time you got rid of all those plastic bags in your cupboard?' 'When are you going to see to that curtain'?

    What was his name?

    Chin we will miss you.:(

The politics of the station is determined not only by the presenter but by the listeners. If you were to ring in with an alternative view then that would change its position.

However, even if you listen with an open mind you may find some points that you agree with. My politics, although I lean towards the right (nothing to do with the way I dress !), I often find I agree with some of the left wingers.

So is there a connection between you leaving and we not having updates on the Foamarstats?
Martin, you've been around radio long enough to know it doesn't work like that. The power is always with the presenter, they can cut off a caller or fade them down and talk over them the moment they start losing their point.

Anyway, this is not the BBC. The only time political balance is required on LBC is in a pre-election period.

I think I know what you are saying. The power intrinsically belongs to the corporate body, in this case LBC and their presenters. And in general, commercialism has taken over whereby their self-gain/one-sidedness isn't inspiring to a caller who has differing views let alone the listener!!? I agree mostly with what you say. However, their are a few presenters who will let the caller have their say. For instance Nick F has become more accommodating since LBC has gone national. He will now laugh at himself, I can't see that being a bad trait can you? Also Cristo though much maligned on here, will take opposing views.

Just wondered if any one else is irritated by the advert for Galliard Homes? It seems to be on every advert break and the voices are so annoying.

Sorry Nosedive I didn't see it. My fault. I'm glad I'm not the only one annoyed by it. It seems to be on at every advert break.

Both debates YouGov polled about 1000 people?

They are obviously sending themselves up. However, for a continuous listener it is coming on too often. However, for the occasional listener they are probably only hearing it once or twice!

Has LBC's Tom Cheal got the sack? He was the main political editor but some new guy has replaced him. The new chap was on last night talking about the Farage/Clegg second debate.

I liked listening to Tom because he talked... so .... slow as if he were from the William Shatner school of............................

    acting.

Someone called Theo Usherwood has replaced him - I cant take to him.

Tom Cheal is now Deputy Managing Editor of LBC.

He doesn't seem to sound so relaxed as Cheal. Maybe it takes a few weeks to get used to broadcasting to the nation. (I believe he was with the PA previously).
