So who is going to record tonight's last High School Days?

    http://www.realradionorthwest.co.uk/shows/high-school-days/f0e45

Its alway better to record the penulimate show as you have a recording of it you may never know the one next week could be the last, So treat the show that is going to be aired on Sunday 27th April as the last ever High School Days once recorded you can always Mixcloud it with a description of the show.

As for Sunday 4th May, its a piece of string could Real go into automation at 7pm straight after the Big Top 40 (likely as its a Global production) or could it go into automation from 10pm or even midnight? We don't know.

So as I've mentioned, treat the show that is going to be aired on Sunday 27th April as the very last edition of High School Days. So get it recorded.

I'd even go as far as recording the last ever breakfast and drivetime shows too.

Cos real radio is crap! 80s radio in 2014...get rid.

I wouldn't say crap 80s radio. more souped up 80s radio.

Real Radio was a brand that gave the masses permission to listen to a commercial station with a bit more speech than they otherwise might have wanted.

Presenters were allowed to give a bit more of 'themselves' as they had a speech commitment to fill so the brand and the format was invented as a way of making a virtue out of regulatory necessity.

It had it's heyday last decade broadcasting to 'down to earth' mostly Labour voting parts of the country that back then were enjoying Gordon Brown's spending largesse but the wheels came off when the recession came.

North West is also using More Music Variety and rarely ID'ing as Real Radio.

The Feel Good Flashback still hasn't changed to the Time Tunnel though.

    Meanwhile, on Facebook:

    Wales:
Has Real Radio Wales changed channels (106.9), I haven't changed the settings, but, all I seem to get now is them saying Heart, what is happening...
    Scotland:
good morning i cant get real radio sxotland on my radio it keeps saying heart

The name Real has gone no sweepers say real and the presenters have completely phased out the name Real on real yorkshire ,there's the odd layover bed that say's from the Heart of'TSA'Real Radio but that's all even all the promo's have the name real removed from them so now its a matter of waiting till may 6th for the name Heart to come into place ,before then it will just be a matter of changing Flashback to time tunnel which could happen tomorrow and the website being changed Heart's pretty much here but in station name and new line up

You can pretty Much say it's heart now ,with a few lose ends to tie up on may 6th they just can't call them heart officially until then as they could be in trouble as it's promoted that May 6th is the big day ,when they bring in the new line up ,station name and new features ect it's just red tape and going through the motions now till may 6th ,I imagine sometime this week the web sites will be changed and updated to match Heart's Website and Global's logo added at the bottom ,until may the 6th it will still have real Logo but in red and white same as heart instead of blue and yellow

The way they've done it is quite smart... "More Music Variety (tagline), Heart is coming (temporary name). Just played you Justin Timberlake 'Mirrors' and Rihanna's 'Stay'.." This was done on all of the old GWR stations before the rebrand.

I'm sort of weird, I'm looking forward to Heart in a way just because I hardly ever listened to Real and the whole thing just seemed so bland, they did have more features on air such as the Real renegade and anyone used to Real is going to find it so basic with Heart. Real was owned by GMG yet never really did anything adventurous and specialist on air, it was just another music station in areas saturated with them anyway, but I did hear it aired a documentary about Hillsborough,, decent content like that is just so rare with commercial stations! But if Heart was replacing Century directly I would be rather pissed about it, Century had an interesting lineup and was a station that should have continued, it had slightly specialist output such as a show hosted by Noddy Holder.

As City is a bit more AC, only a bit more that is, Capital will be a credible extra choice.

Something to remember is that Real even two Months back wasn't the same as Real 18mths ago, ie before Global were planting their own management in to Real & Smooth Ltd as it's been tweaked away at the edges.

Listening now it is literally Heart in all but name (and it's RDS PS). Listening to Heart 103 in Caernarfon on Saturday they are still running Heart branding but also with Capital promos followed by a Dance track as an example of what you'll be hearing post May 6th. Must say, the Heart Optimod 8200 processing sounds great on dance music but no doubt they'll be replacing them with Omnia 6's and putting the crap Capital processing parameters in there!!

It will be interesting to see how they manage to accommodate the Real format into Heart, as Real is a "full service" station which requires 30%-50% speech across daytime (6am-7pm). The Real stations at the moment are doing about 32% speech, which Ofcom say is at the bottom end of their expectations for a full service station.

They will also have to do two minutes of news every hour (and 24 hour news), this is not a problem during breakfast and drive but how will they fit this into the networked programming?

There is an argument that the ex-Reals & Heart Cornwall should have their own shared afternoon show to accommodate the extra speech requirements.

Outside daytime they'll probably do a recorded 30 second update on the hour, when other Heart stations get a local breakfast promo. That's how it worked on Heart East Midlands (another full service with speech and 24 hour news format).

    Word 'Real' not be heard.

Lot of very dry basic 'Heart is coming to Scotland, with more music variety' male, female, mixed v/o sweepers everywhere now. Lunchtime networked woman talking utterly pointless generic non-geographical drivel about her fridge being smelly over the holiday weekend when she went for the (Cadb8ryies) easter eggs in it.

'Its radio Jim, but no longer as we knew it' :(

Tuned in this morning and Kelly Scott ballsed up the news playing jingles over it and ditched the weather completely. Tuned in now at 2pm and first words uttered "At 12 O'Clock..." from the newsreader.

So til 6th march real radio is actually a station with no name as presenters are not allowed to say the station name, only "heart is coming".

A question about the RDS, has that changed or does it still say Real?

They all still say REAL for now. If you wanted to run a station nameless for the next two weeks then they could reprogramme each RDS Coder with '105.4 MHz' or each respective main frequency, alternatively turn the Coders off! Problem then is car radios would go off on a PI search!

    Right.

So the RDS would change late Monday 5th in time for the relaunch on the 6th.

The RDS will change for the launch although car presets will have to be updated for the new RDS
