Morning Hicky:) have you seen what's involved in the High Tibial Osteotomy:( do.not.want.:(
..given the time of day am tempted to skip the chocolate and head straight for the gin...;) happy garden center-ing:D
It's not what you want that matters, it's what you need.
Of course things look awful when you know whats going to happen, i wasn't impressed when they said they would almost cut me in half but i was asleep at the time.
If your awake when they do it, get a nice book and some music in ear phones, sorted.:D
Think it's best left to the right people, why are you risking doing damage or getting infected?

What took you so long? I was expecting you to say that when I first mentioned it.....:D:D
It's not rocket science, I used to be a dental nurse and have removed loads of stitches in the past - and this from the man that self-treated a huge supporating wound after trying to chop his hand off!!:p

i know that but I'm having a hard time getting my head round cutting open what looks and feels like a mostly ok knee joint, hacking bits of bone out of it, screwing a plate and pins into it, detaching and reattaching tendons on the kneecap and generally doing yukky things....:(

Jean has just had her knee op cancelled, was supposed to be today, she was all psyched up for it too, she was weeping with the pain in it one day when she was staying here, I hope she manages to get it rescheduled soon....:(

poor thing, how frustrating for her...:(
have to say, painwise mine doesn't bother me too much to be honest (unless i overdo it) but I've seen the mri and xrays and there's definitely significant wear:( maybe i should wait a while...
Suppose I'd better go see what to make for dinner, kids are hungry....and OH is home late tonight so that'll be nice:) although he's off again on sunday night....
catch you all later xx:)
Morning:)
I am not a happy bunny, doc wants to do nasty things to my knee a high tibial osteotomy and a maquet...I have googled both and now feel slightly sick:( - and this was supposed to be the guy who's not surgery-happy:eek: ie the minimalist, non-invasive specialist.
Anyone know any orthopaedic specialists for an opinion on this lot??:(
....off to go sob quietly in a corner...
(((halla))) not sure exactly what it means but it's obviously not what you wanted to hear. I'll ask my son what he knows about the process. I would definitely have a second opinion if you can locate someone suitable.
The woman on TA have called themselves Stirling should have called themselves Lurkers - a bunch of cackling hens. Every year same s*** should know what gets up Sugars nose by now.
Lurkers - cackling hens??? Not sure about this:rolleyes:
Morning Halla,Eddy, Flora, SR, Posh, Balders, and Honey :D
I have just been attempting to remove the stitches from my gum, where I had the extraction, to save a 2 hour round trip to the dentist.Nearly cut my tongue as it is so far back but got 2 of them, will attempt others later as my hand started to shake..QUOTE]
Grief Arte, you're brave and must have good eyesight:cool:
Yup. some nurses did their best to get a different doctor(ours had left) to change the prescription for one that can be used elsewhere, but he obviously told them to take a hike I think it was the one from last year that coughed and sneezed all over his hand and refused point blank to antibac before examination.
The thing is, after traipsing around yesterday i cant walk very well today so very awkward.
I am in trauma because the dishwasher has broken
I think i know what is wrong with it but it requires a bit of brute force.
I'm impressed that you even thnik you know what's wrong - I'd just be looking at it calling it 'useless bloody thing' and worse.
Then again you would probably complain if we never had a Nation Health Service, and after the op you would more than likely complain your toast was overdone. Moan moan moan, if you dont want the op just tell them to chop your leg off and be done with it.
Good morning everyone, I am a new user so be very gentle with me.:D
Hi posh1 - not sure that we do 'gentle' here, we tell it like it is. but welcome:cool:

If it were me I'd definitely wait a while for the info to sink in, to assess the pros and cons and get a fuller picture.
That's partly because I'm a wuss with anything medical, and partly because making quick decisions never works for me!

Dinner sorted, chicken legs roasted with veg and salad:)
Thanks Jojo, any input from your son would be much appreciated...whatever I decide it's unlikely that it will happen before the summer hols as I need to be able to drive etc so if I go ahead with it it will be september at the earliest...:)

Yeah I have been talking to Jean i hope it can be rescheduled soon

I could get at my hand, working inside your own mouth isn't easy via a reverse mirror.

I would ask what you could expect after the surgery, will you still have pain, will you be able to do the kick boxing when it's healed, say 3 months.
She's used to getting the blame, her hubby and kids blame her for everything that doesn't run smoothly - she can take it!:p
Anyway...".it's character building."...:D:D:D

Was just a quick trip to get containers and compost, not much selection there yet in the way of plants and flowers, bit too early but at least we have some seeds to play with

I agree with this about Hallas knee. It obviously needs something drastic doing but i would be cautious in a situation where doctors will make money out of the op, unlike the health service when you know for sure they will try every single cheaper option first.

Couldn't swap it for a pork pie, I suppose?...:p
 please just make the trip to the *cringe* dentist.
