They should have just one league at the top. In the West Midlands we have counties with their own leagues and the Birmingham and District League covering 5 counties.
Interestingly, Yorkshire are reverting to 4 main leagues based on geography including the Bradford League in the West.
Despite much closing ranks in the clubs within the leagues in Lancashire mentioned above, I've just seen a link on Facebook reporting Heywood CC's decision to leave the CLL (where they were founder members) and join the Greater Manchester Pyramid system from next year.
Have you seen all the proposals for club cricket in Lancs below County level?
A big pyramid in which most of the old leagues would be re-named, leading up to a mega Premier League below the County side. Lancashire League, Central Lancashire and Bolton Leagues not happy and keen to retain their own integrity, proposing expansions in response.
What do you think?
Not too sure. Everytime they change these things (Not just Lancs but everywhere) it never seems to work out as planned
I'd probably prefer to let each league look after itself
The League structure in Lancs does seem very complicated.......there's a hell of a lot of cricket going on
There was quite a few teams in and around my home town (Bury) who had overseas professionals so must have been quite high up but they all seemed to play in different leagues...........impossible to keep up with for a casual observer
r/e reducing CC games to fit in more (bloody) 1-day cricket?
This season sees that a very ordinary Lancashire side relying on Kolpacs who got relegated last season but are storming the second this kind of shows the vast difference between the first and second divisions.
I'd like to see a premiership of 8 (thus 14 games) - or 6 (15) playing 4-day cricket, and the second division of 10 (12) playing 18 (22?) 3-day games (longer hours). One up and down directly, and the other decided by a 5-day playoff.
The 20bloody20 should be the 18 counties + Scotland, Ireland and Holland + one of the *lesser* nations (Kenya?) and have 2 groups of 11. What price a day-trip to Amsterdam or Dublin (hic...)?
Scrap the 40-overs and have a season-long 50-over competition finishing at lords in the beginning of August, leaving the rest of the month + September to concentrate on the proper stuff - the CC.
Every first-division CC game should be web-streamed (with a sub if necessary to keep Sky and the ECB happy).
It looks like Leics are heading for their first championship win since 2012, only needing 102 more runs with 10 wickets standing to beat Essex.
But the big question is: Where is Monty Panesar?
He has not played for Essex for a month, is not in the seconds, is not injured, but Essex will not say why he is not even in the squad.

Howard, from my understanding of the possible proposals, it won't be less LVCC for more one-day.
The reduction in LVCC is stiil part of the quality / quantity balance argument.
Based on how many 1st class domestic matches that are played in all the other test playing nations, (i.e. less than here), the argument is that fewer games will become more special and of higher quality due to better preparation and more rest time.
Any gaps created by fewer matches will not be filled by more one-day or T20 matches but used to spread out the schedule (thereby hopefully making it easier for everyone to follow and appreciate).
Buttler is a god. I remember when Somerset let him go, and I was fuming, but thy apparently felt they wanted Kieswetter instead. As you probably knowC raig has unfortunately had to retire from First-class cricket today.

I reckon that's quite a big deal.
Also Chris Gayle scored 92 on his (Somerset) debut as well.

Bit like the County Championship.......:p
114 off 73 balls
Someset are chasing 228 to beat them and are 136/3 after 13 overs with Chris Gayle 92* off 42
Edit : 100* off 45
17 needed off the last with Gayle at the non strikers
Gayle finishes on 151* from 62
Seems odd that it's a Division 2 game
So he hogged the strike but failed to win the game for his team :p:p

Hope the aussies don't pick up any injuries and call him up

Is it another disciplinary issue?
Congrats to Leicester on completing their victory aided by ex-Lancs man Andrea Agathangelou with 42*

That's my take on it, anyway.
Set your recorder for the re-run
Quality from Buttler with a last ball win:)
Thought we'd blown it once Faulkner got out.
Ho-hum
Just saw that Gayle was at it again though only 4 sixes this time...
Worth every penny they're paying him
Buttler was brilliant. Yorkshire bowling at the death was very poor. All those massive leg side wides :o
17 wickets at Canterbury may attract the inspectors
Just noticed that Derby beat Kent. Can't be many teams that win by 8 wickets after being bowled out for 80 in their first innings
Another collapse against Lancs:)
Gloucester went from 113/2 to 160 all out
The pacemen did the damage this time with 5 for Jarvis and 3 for Faulkner
31 points clear of Surrey who do have a game in hand of us tho"
