Would you tell people in real life you post on forums?

I wouldn't.

I find it quite embarrassing.

In the early 00's not a chance. The height of uncool and stank of being socailly inept.

Now it is great. The connoisseur's choice instead of those ghastly facebook and twitter creations if you will.

Yep. Quite often topics on here trigger discussions with family and friends

ETA.....delete kisses got distracted by dog and thought I was texting. Senile moment.

I told my family; I also told them that the best advice I have ever had has been from these forums.

I've been on DS for 7 and a half years... I'd definitely keep that to myself.

No way! I reckon if anyone I know is on here, they'd soon work out who I am, but I really hope not after all the things I've given away in the past!

I post on here as if i'm having a conversation with a mate in a boozer and often have a chat about things discussed on here.

I guess there's a difference between reading what others have written and one actually posting. The former I wouldn't mind telling others; after all, it's advice (and usually great too).

I tell everyone I'm on DS. I don't post anything I would be ashamed of, so I don't see why it would be embarrassing for me.

I can't say it's ever come up in conversation, really...

I don't have a problem with telling anyone... I just won't go around advertising it lol.

Exactly. Those who are ashamed of it try and be something different to what they are in the real world.

I can't imagine why not. Pretty much everyone that I know use the internet, social networking sites, gaming sites, forums. In fact, half of my good friends now are people I met in AOL chatrooms back in the day.

Are those AOL chatrooms still going? I used to post in the twentysomethings chatroom about 10 years ago.
