In tandem with my "Top 10 rock guitarists" thread, here's one where you can mention or link to your favourite solos.

Mine would include:

Intro to and bridge for "Sweet child o' mine" (Guns and Roses)
Outro to "Hotel California" (Eagles)
Outro to "Don't tell me you love me" (Night Ranger)
Intro to "Follow me" (Rory Gallagher)
Intro to "Bat out of Hell" (Meat Loaf)
Solo from "Number of the beast" (Iron Maiden)
Solo/bridge from "Dry county" (Bon Jovi)
Outro to "Who's crying now" (Journey)

and loads more I can't think of at the moment....

Some good ones above but one that is often missed is the one at the end of the Carpenters Goodbye To Love.

Absolutely! For a non-rock band, the solo at the end of that song knocks you over! I did say "rock solos" but in fairness, that one has to be let in!

For me...Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac playing Oh Well Part 2. The acoustic guitar solo is wonderful:

The particular part I like starts at around 6.37 but then again the the whole of Oh Well is great! :D

Sadly there are no live performances of Part 2 that I know of but take a look/listen at Part 1 - fantastic stuff!

Some more just came to mind:-

"Parisienne walkways" (Gary Moore and Phil Lynott)
"Solilioquoy (the lonliest place in the world) by Ten, who probably no-one knows... :(
    "Sultans of swing" (Dire Straits)
    "Telegraph road" (Dire Straits)
"Go your own way" (Fleetwood Mac)
"Comfortably numb" (How did I forget THAT??) -- Pink Floyd
and of course virtually all of "Shine on you crazy diamond"!
"I can't tell you why" (Eagles)

    The list goes on...

The Best Of Times (Dream Theater)

The guitar solo and the outro is excellent John Petrucci. It is over 13 minutes of excellence and a great ballard/rock song about Mike Portnoy's father who died.

Surprisingly, I was able to find that Ten song on YT. The video is nothing (literally: it's a black screen!) but the song has to be heard to be believed. Solo starts at 06:40 and goes on to the end of the song ---- superb in every way.

    Boredom by The Buzzcocks.

It was the antithesis of guitar solos, it was only two notes.

    Slayer - Angel of Death

Kerry King's guitar work, especially in Slayer's early days, just gives me goosebumps.

I saw the light - Todd Rundgren
The high note at the end of the guitar solo still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up even after listening to it thousands of times over the years.

I love Metallica, Guns n' Roses, the Who, Pink Floyd. But for some reason the outro to 'Torn' by Natalie Imbruglia is far and away my favourite guitar solo!
