Massive figures there. Cant ever see Iceland withdrawing from the contest. 62% share on a semi is extremely high even in countries taking part in the semi let alone not taking part.

They probably only had the choice of Eurovision or watching a glacier move
WOW! I know Eurovision is a big deal in Sweden and Melfest a huge ratings draw too, but yikes, 83 % of the viewing public :O I mean figures like that are unheard of in the UK, even the olympics didn't average that high- Incredible figures (So Consistent too except for 2010, poor Anna :P)
Though I am not sure they are counted several ex-soviets tend to watch the Russian Broadcast over their own, especially in Ukraine.
those ratings make no sense. In 2009 half the Russian TV audience watched the final, making the total watching any TV at the time just 15 million out of a population of over 140 million?? So 90% or so of Russians weren't watching telly that night....?

The contest has a very little following outside the European portion of Russia
but surely, like America, programmes are broadcast according to local time, ie with a delay? Although that beggars the question: does the whole of Russia not get to vote? We need a Russian to answer this!
PS It's strange that a start time designed for Western Europe hasn't changed as more countries from the East have entered. It could easily start at 7pm in GB and Ireland. Surprised it's never been an issue with the organisers.

I've thought that too. 7.00-10.30 might be a better time for it.
Primetime in Europe generally does suit the start time.
i didn't realise there were so many 8pm CET news bulletins in important markets that have to be avoided... explains now why the 9pm CET time hasn't been tampered with
Wow, the fall of Latvia over the past few years is immense. I guess they got a boost when they won, and it's died down over time? They can't use not qualifying as an excuse either, as they haven't qualified since 2009.
Better than last year, so maybe Latvia will stick around for next year (since there were rumours that if Latvia didn't qualify this year, they'd withdraw).

Strange that Ukraine doesn't really seem interested in Eurovision, despite it normally always doing really well
Most probably have other things on their mind this year
SF1-80.4%
SF2-62.5%
Final-83%

Semi Final 1 - 611,000
Semi Final 2 - 711,000

I'm very surprised it's so high. Always seemed like they couldn't care less since they hosted in 2009. How many viewers would that be approx?
Only figures I have are
2010 4,300,000 37.2%
2009 7,500,000 53.8%
