How do we think last night's show will fair?
BB12 launched with 2.77m viewers (exc. +1), BB13 2.93m and BB14 with 2.35m (Wikipedia.)

I'm going to go with 2.8m after the success of CBB13.

Predictions?

    Worst launch ratings possibly.

    3.2 at the maximum

But can't see it staying that way once the novelty of this theme wears off

Can't imagine it's down on last year after the increase in attention the show got in January.

I think low. That first HM was repulsive and many may have switched off in the first 15 minutes.

I hope they're better than what's being said at the moment (1.6m.) Holding out for 2m+.

2.1 Million, same as last year.

Not sure where the 1.6M figure came from but for future reference the actual figures don't come out until 9:30.

Hopefully, but I wouldn't be too disappointed if they didn't after initially seeing the 1.6m figure floating about.:p I'm not too familiar with ratings and that, so wasn't sure where people got them from so I searched on Twitter for them. Will we get Bit on the Side and Live Feed ratings too?

OK start. It looks like BB was the 2nd most popular programme at 9PM after BBC One's From There to Here (3.2m) beating Life of Ryan (1.8M) and the Comedy Gala (1.8M) as well as BBC Two.

    Wow, 2.1 million, that's just earth shattering......:D

Didn't it get 6 million or something when it first launched on Five?

    I was clarifying something important.

You can't compare the normal version with CBB. And it was 5M anyway for the big relaunch.

And Vodka_Drinka it's obvious you've already made up your mind on this series from the VT's of 10 of the 16 housemates. What's the point in continuing to engage in something that makes you so unhappy? It's supposed to be entertainment. If it's not entertaining to you, find something that is. :)

Yes, how dare people air their opinions on a discussion forum eh?;-) I don't take the programme so seriously that it makes me "unhappy", though I do however think that posters are within their rights to say if a show they have invested a lot of their time disappoints them.

That's very good considering there wasn't much promo for it at all.

Well ... it's a Big Brother forum. And the poster was referring to the fact that false ratings were posted in the forum earlier.

Many people are interested in the ratings, so yes, for some this clarification was a help.

Bit On The Side- 707K (5.7%) excluding +1

Not a good sign for tonight, that looks low for a post-launch BOTS. Especially considering they had quite a strong panel for BOTS standards.

    http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/news/a575926/big-brother-power-trip-opens-with-2-million-viewers-on-channel-5.html

Previous series premieres for Bit On The Side:

    2011: 992K (8.6%)
    2012: 821K (6.9%)
    2013: 744K (5.8%) / +1: 101K

I do wonder how the change in direction in terms of casting that the show is taking will affect ratings, nobody seems incredibly thick which is a first. (I know we still have six to go in, but there has been a clear change)

All seem fairly intelligent except Winston.
