Mo was the standout act for tonight. Awesome performance!

Good opening launch for The Voice.

Admittedly, I was worried about the move to ITV and had a bit of a concern on how it would turn out but surprisingly it felt quite at home. Pacing was fine for the most part. Most of the acts were pretty decent bar a few poor ones. It's nice to see Will again and Tom returning is also good. The judging panel seems promising. I liked Jennifer Hudson. She came across fine tonight. She gave very good advice to some of the contestants mainly to the ones that decided to go on her team (the girl and Mo). As for Gavin, erm I don't actually know him that well. This is actually the first time I heard of him. All I could think was "Who the hell is that". Glad I'm not the only who felt that way. I'm sure quite a lot of us did the Google search. :D Don't have much of an opinion on him yet but he seems alright so far.

Obviously the big change was the "no turning chairs policy" towards people who don't go through. Didn't expect that and it seems to add a more harsher element to the show. It's more blunt but it could also be seen as a good thing because it saves the judges from having to face them or bullshit their way through false excuses on why they didn't turn. In terms of everything else, I think it all seems to work well so far, there was a good balance of positive feedback and criticism. There was also less unneeded filler which left me feeling "Yeah, this was quite a successful opener". Of course the only downside was the bombardment of adverts but it wasn't too bad tonight.

Good opener and I look forward to next week. :)

I hated the no turning chairs policy, thst made TVUK warm and distinctive from the X Factor. It's become more weakest link. No warm feedback, no encouragement, feels very very harsh.

How would you feel if the X Factor was moved from ITV to BBC

I think comments like this are unnecessary and distract from the show, the moving of channels is a non issue and only mentioned by one or two channel supporters. The problem is when the show is tinkered with and the format changed.

TVUK is a show that can be shown on any TV Channel, it's not like GBBO which really us a BBC style show.

    That was an outstanding show.
Such a breath of fresh air for a talent show on ITV that isn't from the depth's of Cowell's contrived bollocks.
Wow, how mature of you! Explains why the Voice launched with a dreadful 5.95m last night, and why Simon Cowell's "contrived bollocks" rates anywhere between 1 million to 6 MILLION higher? I can't tell if you're jealous of Cowell's success, or see yourself as 'above' certain programmes due to snootiness, or a bit of both! Either way, you probably don't get much attention at home so crave it online instead.

Disagree with a point of view, fine. No need for the personal remarks.

    1. Ratings don't equal quality

    2. Simon Cowell is more interested in ratings than talent, which is evident in the "joke acts" getting through

    3. The X Factor becomes a competition between the judges. They each vote for their own, regardless of talent. How does that make for a good talent show?

    4/ You are extremely rude

What a surprise, Cowell's #1 fan is here defending him. I really do hope you get paid by Syco for this.

Are ITV using a live band or recorded sources for auditions?

:D Check this guy out. He's a bit special isn't he, and I don't mean gifted. He questions my maturity and need for attention, and then demonstrates all those qualities in themselves, like a man-baby who has dropped their ice cream. He appears to be in need of some learning around the meanings of irony and hypocrisy.

Poster has a post count double that of my own in half the time span, yet I'm the one craving for online attention. It would be funny if it wasn't so sad.

Poster draws faulty conclusions that only exist in their imagination, to add some manufactured bias to fuel their delusion in trying to get away with a laughably bad rant in compensation for whatever self-worth issues they are having. Poster is a mind reading genius! The only reasons I dislike the X Factor are because I’m jealous of Cowell, or consider myself above it - right out of thin air! Although perhaps not quite the genius after all. Because had he possessed the wit or and cognitive ability to check my post history in the X Factor sub-forum they would discover that I very much watch it. Albeit on speed watch, because that’s all that panto-trash is good for nowadays in my house.

Poster doesn't seem to understand the concept of logic, making false and imaginary connection between ratings and how they must somehow dictate my personal preferences of what I personally choose to like or dislike.

Poster then embarrasses themselves even further with a wholly unnecessary and out of context personal attack, using projection to apply their own personal inadequacies onto a random guy on the Internet whom dared to express an opinion so different to their own that their child-mind cannot deal with.

Conclusion: Poster would benefit from therapy, including an anger management course and some further education, especially a class in critical thinking. Should they need professional help, poster will probably be diagnosed as suffering from Dunning–Kruger syndrome. Poster will most likely reply with even more logical fallacies and insults, thus continuing to provide further confirmation for all of the above traits - with no sense of humility or self-awareness. Poster will also most likely prove that they like to give it but can’t take it.

Please accept my apologise for the thread interruption. That was like taking candy from a baby. Back to the topic!

Now this is a very good point. I agree, to the point that I cannot name a single winner from the previous Voice UK seasons, even though I watched them all.

However! ... I believe it was said that under the BBC's stewardship, that their hands were tied in many ways with regard to being able to commercialise and promote the winner. Does anyone know if that's true? If so, maybe that influenced how seriously they took it themselves and just wrote it off as light entertainment?

It could be wishful thinking, but I'm hoping that being free of those shackles on ITV, we could see a more viable and successful winner this time round. My fingers are crossed.

Not harsh at all. It gets it over and done with. No false praise for someone they just rejected, no having regrets as soon as they find out how pretty the contestant is even though they can't sing, no sob stories after the event of someone doing it for their dead gerbil that died tragically in 2003.

The guy at the very start was good.

If he gets the right material or becomes the lead singer for a credible band, I could see him doing very well.

I have already forgotten the rest of them, even though they were pleasant enough singers.

You obviously never watched until the end then.

I don't know why people were thinking that Jennifer was showing off when she started singing. If you listened to what she was saying it was actually a very valid point and good coaching. That's what The Voice should be.

Yes. She was talking about being a coach and decided to show the contestant what a proper singing coach does. And it worked because she was chosen, which makes any accusations of showing off totally redundant.

    Live band for sure.

When Jennifer said the key should come down half a step, the piano player was accompanying her in the new key.

On a talent front so far I agree with you that ratings really don't equal quality.

The pimp act so far in Mo is alot better than Matt, Emily, and 5AM in that last X Factor series who were all pimped to high heaven along with the joke act Honey G.
