Mp3 music

Been a while since I downloaded music so to my shock, found MSN music no longer available.
Where can I download music safely and that it will play on most mp3 players (Creative) - does Itunes limit plays only to it ipods? I am alos not interested in the sites where you pay monthly fees.
Hope you can help....currently looking for Best of Catatonia download.

    iTunes is strictly for iPods. Most sites Napster, HMV, Virgin, Tesco you can pay for tracks singluarly or albums. I have a Creative Zen M if I want certain tracks I use Napster. But be warned a lot of back catologue stuff is sometimes in 128kbps bit-rate, which personally I wouldn't touch with a barge pole.

    You could try http://www.7digital.com, works with Creative players and starts at 192kbps (which is better quality than iToones!). :)
