Depends what she means by "helped". If "helped" encompasses "called the cops and they wasted time humouring me", then yes, she probably has helped.

I don't need to be psychic to think of a simple way she could help police prosecute one person for fraud.

I had never heard of this woman until yesterday but I do not think she will stand up to the rigorous procedures of Digital Spy.

    That is my prediction. :)

The 6pm news on Sky News right now, one of the stories coming up (no idea when, but during this hour anyway) in the lead-in, is 'should the police be entertaining the claims of psychics'. Presumably prompted by the story in the OP.

She's confusing "helping the police" with "wasting police time."

It's an easy mistake to make.

Every big enquiry has them coming out of the woodwork.

I believe she contacted the police. I don't believe she was of any use to their enquiries. Probably just a nuisance.

I'm getting an image... Someone like Bruce Forsyth, but not Brucie himself...

A man with a big chin... A big itchy chin...

I'm getting the name Jimmy Hill and the words CHINNY RECKON!

...Her abilities have been publicly acknowledged by high-ranking Police Officers and also the heir achy of the Catholic church...

Unable to psychically connect with a dictionary then.

    Poor achy heir :(

'I'm getting that you want my help.'

'that would be help with a crime, isn't it, my loves?'

    'it's a serious crime, isn't it?'

I assume she helped them by staying out of the way.

I've just watched a clip of her doing a reading on youtube.

It's all pretty standard cold reading stuff.

I'll file this in the drawer marked "bullshit".

It's more of an achievement if you realise those 3000 are all in fact DEAD.

Okay ... I'll admit it. I was just too lazy to sit though three hours of a breakfast show! :D

You do not have to site through 3 hours. The relevant bit starts at 7.30am which is 1 hour and 30 minutes in.

    Cheers!

My brain has gone off to the seaside for a holiday and I failed to notice that the programme started at 6:00 with the relevant bit at 7:30! I thought the programme had been on at 7:30

The good news is that I've had a text from my brain saying it hopes to be back by Friday!

Well after all that, she was convincing ... not! :D

I'm a skeptic on these things until I witness something persuasive myself. Since I haven't then I suspect most of these 'psychics' helping police are either deluded about their abilities or people looking to get their names known to build careers. Possibly a bit of both. Occasionally one might get lucky and declare something that is later shown to be accurate but if you throw enough predictions out there then occasionally one will hit.

I think the entire spiritualist/medium/talking to dead relatives industry as a whole is one of the most exploitative and cruel out there.
