Doctor Who 'Delaware theme' - could it make a comeback?

I wonder if the dumped 1972 Delaware remix of the Doctor Who theme could ever be revived, perhaps as incidental music. It has a strangely haunting but slightly child-like quality with some very odd audio effects, a strange mutant of the original.

There is little doubt that the original Delia Derbyshire electronic arrangement of Ron Grainer's score is vastly superior to any of the Jon Nathan Turner or Russell T Davies versions.

The Delaware theme is bizarre and of its time, but would it work today? More importantly, will the original theme ever be restored and the imposters consigned to the recycle bin?

It's so bad it's good. Wonder what possessed them to 'update' it in 1972. A taste of things to come with the first of the various mucked-up versions to arrive a few years later.

The Delaware theme is utterly awful, they should destroy all traces of it.

The best theme is the 1970's Pertwee/Baker version. It still creeps me out when I hear it.

I wonder what they were on when they cooked up the Delaware? Sherbert dabs or space dust?
