I am missing the HD versions of BBC 4, BBC News and Cbeebies on freeview? I have done a retune a few times. BBC 3 appeared some time ago before it went live on 105. Any ideas please

Not all transmitters are transmitting the signals.
You can check here on the details of your transmitter
    http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/industry
This also shows if you are in an area that can receive some of the extra hd channels and what date it will be working.
    http://www.a516digital.com/2013/11/rollout-of-extra-freeview-hd-channels.html

Also I would have a delve in the freeview forum - there is a lot of info there from knowledgeable people. You need COM7 and there is also a COM8
    eg this thread http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1919091 or
    http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1915100

edit: I see you thread has been moved to the right forum.

Thanks for the replies Mark and Tea Lady

I'll delve into the above links but it seems a bit strange to get BBC3 Hd and CBBC Hd. Ah! Writing that do they share the same (can't think what it's called) and BBC4 shares Cbeebies channel?

I've 120 channels after the scan the same as before if that helps

You're not getting the other HD channels because no transmitters in your area have Com7 running yet.

BBC Three HD/CBBC HD is on the same multiplex as BBC One HD, BBC Two HD, ITV HD and Channel 4 HD, which is nationwide. BBC Four HD/CBeebies HD and BBC News HD are on COM 7, which is only available in certain areas.

You can all the channels via satellite (Sky/Freesat).

Presumably he's using Rowridge, which is listed as going live with Com7 (HP only) in January, although I've not heard anything to confirm that yet.

it seems a bit strange to get BBC3 Hd and CBBC Hd. Ah!

there a mux called PSB 3 which has BBC one, BBC TWo, ITV, ch4 and then CBBC/BBC three... as thee is only space for 5 HD channels.
(this uses DVB-T2 radio modulation and AVC video Coding ...)

There are now two similar T2/AVC muxes which have a limited life and only cover
about 50% now 70% by Wimbledon of the country.
the BBC has put News channel and BBCfour/CBeebies on this (COM7)

As you get lots of Channels you are looking at the main Rowridge transmitter on the Isle of White (if you cannot get say DAve etc - you are on the Poole or another relay which only has 3 PSB muxes)....
so you may get the extra HD Muxes early this year .. but they are lower power and with a different coverage area
(to be nice to the french)

Look at this which I took a random post code http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/coveragechecker/main/trade/bh14+9nb/NA/0/rbijqcbt09utsghk2b5sqepud0

    Hi kimbobill

I am having exactly the same problem in that I cannot get BBC4 HD in my channel list.

My parents who live half a mile up the road can receive it, we are both in Hyde SK14.

have you got lots of Freeview channels in English - this means you are looking at Winter hill Transmitter- if Lots but some in Welsh then Moel-y-parc it not lots then Another "Relay" transmitter which only has the Three PSB Muxes..

Put your address including house number (Change address)into this tool .. The post code is what Google gave me!.... and see which transmitter you are seeing

Also on COM7 are Al Jazeera English HD and Al Jazeera Arabic (in SD)

AJE is available from the Astra satellite cluster but AJArabic is not according to their web site.

Thanks Technologist, that was very useful.

I am on the Winter Hill transmitter.

I nipped home on my dinner hour and tried the manual tune on Channel 31 with no luck.

I then remembered that my aerial feed is split to enable both my BT Vision Box and the Panasonic to be used together.

I put the aerial directly into the back of the Panasonic and I got the missing channels after a retune.

Yes BBC 3 and CBBC HD are the same channel. Likewise BBC 4 and CBeebies. They share the same transmission chains. Biggest BBC con to call them 4 channels. Even most people on here are taken in.
Why do you go on and on about this? We are not "taken in" - we know exactly how it works and do not consider it to be a "con" in any way.

Because he thinks that if you repeat something over and over eventually it will be true?

Don't mention the inconvenience of the different identifiers, bbc trust remit, budget, marketing, audience etc.

And, unless you're wanting to watch BBC Three HD Picture-in-Picture whilst enjoying The Dumping Ground on CBBC HD, there's no problem with the channels not being on air at the same time.:)

I have lost quite a few channels since pointing my tv aerial to poole transmitter instead of rowridge, I might give up with aerials and try a freesat box as we have a dish, anyone tried these instead?

Poole is only a relay with 3 multiplexes instead of the 6-9* multiplexes that will be available from Rowridge.

*9 includes the local TV mux, which won't be directed at Poole.

Freesat HD boxes will provide you with more channels, but currently not Dave, Really, Yesterday, Drama, Quest, Al Jazeera Arabic or Al Jazeera English HD.
