The new set is far too clean.
I agree. Wonder how they could age it quickly...

Yeah they must have CGI'd it.

To be honest I don't know why they replicated that facade (considering you hardly ever saw it in the background of the old set anyway). They could have used the opportunity to put something else there, something more useful to the show. Same with that whole area behind the gardens.

I know in Emmerdale's case they sandblasted bricks, and coated things with yoghurt to encourage lichen and moss to grow to "age" the set.

Yes, that's definitely CGI. The border across the top of the screen above Tim looks completely fake.

I think the facade is up again to disguise something?

Looks like some kind of break area from inside the studio. :D

The facade will be to hide the Hovis factory I reckon.

You'll have a great time, that's for certain.

First and foremost you'll be taken around inside on a tour that lasts approx. 45 minutes; photography isn't permitted but you'll get to see some iconic props and interior sets.

There's also the chance to have your picture taken behind the bar of The Rovers; you pay for it and collect it inside the old Medical Centre.

Then you get to spend as long as you want on the backlot; which is when you'll realise how small it is... but there's plenty of opportunity to take as many photos and videos as you want.

The garage is soooo clean. There's no evidence of years of muck and oil on the floor.

    This is a good article

Sounds like producers plan to keep adding little changes to the street, since it looks a bit bare since the size increase.

You can tell it's new because the pavement and road still seems to be covered in dust/cement marks giving away that's it's been laid recently.

Looks like something has finally opened in place of the butchers!

Further on down the street, you'll notice a green frontage

I don't like how these shops have appeared from nowhere on the new set. It was a backdrop of other houses previously

I agree but I guess this new backdrop is more realistic as it is 3D and if they wanted to create the old one in 3D they'd have to make a whole new street!

Sorry to bump this thread but were the scenes shot on Carla's balcony studio based on certain angles.

Previous pictures posted on this thread have shown Victoria Court flats as a facade with breeze blocks in the windows but you could clearly see Carla's kitchen.

I think they were shot on the studio set. Daft if the bricked up the windows on the outdoor set as how do actors get onto the balcony's

Anyway Carla's flat seems to be the same one dev and sunita had before they bought number seven

Bit of a geography question about manchester but there used to be a big warehouse to the west of Granada with a big clock on the front, anybody local know what it was

Was the Community Centre a seperate set last night? It looked bigger, and the windows were blocked out

When will ITV update the Coronation Street website header to have a picture of the new set, I wonder. Probably never (rolls eyes).

Seems a bit of a shame they aren't doing the bus crash on the Street itself, would be one hell of a way to christen the new Street, though I guess it's more realistic it would happen away from home and they probably don't want to damage it so soon after it's been built.

As for Christmas I wonder what we'll see in the way of decorations and such this year. Will they use snow? I doubt it. But apparently all the decorations from the old set tour's Christmas event have come fresh from the new set after they completed Christmas filming.

I hope they're getting more confident now to show more of the new set off. It is much bigger and that shows, but the whole shooting-tight thing is wearing a bit thin now, just get on with it and give us some wide views and really make use of the bigger space! I do still catch myself thinking it looks too clean as well.

I have noticed more vehicles on the Street of late. I doubt we'd get to the point where cars were actually parked on the Street though this would be realistic (where do the characters' cars actually go? :D)
