Clearly an amazing young man taken too soon, but all this grief porn is in pretty poor taste.

It seems that they just want to say: "look at me because I need the attention!"

Good grief. Poor you thinking like that and being so cynical. It's a sad state of affairs when compassion for another is seen as "grief porn" as you so tastefully put it.

I don't 'do' Facebook or Twitter but I still wanted to be part of the 11 o'clock thunderclap Stephen's mum requested and I thought others might feel that way too.

It is all too rare to see someone in the public eye who was as brave and still as upbeat as Stephen was. What is wrong with wanting to join in the celebration of his life?

I see the hideous phrase "grief porn" is being spouted on here again. How cliched.

I wouldn't call having admiration for this young man, and wanting to share it with everyone, "grief porn".
However, this could have been included in the previous fairly large thread about Stephen.

But anyway, yeah thumbs up from me. A remarkable lad.
(Dont know how to do the picture of the thumbs up)

A cheery wee πŸ‘ is hardly grief porn. Just a bit of human solidarity for a great young man.
I didn't see the other thread, sorry.

It's not about grief though. It's about celebrating a great young man and the good he has done. It's a celebration not a pity party.

There's nothing 'wrong' in it at all and to be honest I hadn't realised that Stephen's mother had requested this for her late son.

I personally don't get it and if I were in her shoes, I think I would just want to hide away. She's grieving though, so she's allowed to feel any way she thinks is right and if this helps here, then ok.

It's all part of keeping him with her in her heart.

Stephen Sutton was clearly an exceptional human being but I don't quite understand what the thread is about. Are the square boxes thumbs up symbols? I can't see them in my browser.

They are a thumbs up, I believe in reference to the picture of Stephen with his thumbs up in hospital.

I think she's in quite a unique situation and wants his great work to be continued.

Yes they are. Stephen's mum requested that at 11am today a 'thunderclap' thumbs up would be nice, to celebrate Stephen's life and to make others smile.

I was aware of the other thread but thought this was a special, one off event that deserved a new thread which is only relevant today (hence why I put the date in the title!). I am sure that the mods will merge or remove but at least we've given Stephen a final πŸ‘!

Like me you're probably missing a converting code so the images come out as little blocks. Only mine have a sort of chinese style to them.

Was trying to work out how to do the icon until 3Sheets suggested copy and paste.
Obvious now when I think of it!
