My family got four numbers back in the 90s, it worked out to be around £70. Also just the odd tenner here and there, but apart from that, not much. They have spent at least £2 on a Saturday and Wednesday, every week, since it started. That would work out at £192 per year on lottery tickets.
When I had premium bonds, I was getting back something nearly every month
Mine is £70 a few years back with four numbers. I work with a bloke who won £7000 on hot picks three years ago and a cousin of my better half won £120k five years ago and spent the lot in a year after coming home from a holiday with a thai bride on his arm. They married, they spent it, they divorced, she went back home.
My best lottery story though is this, and it's gospel.I used to work shifts in a hospital and the night that the lottery was first ever drawn, the three staff from our department we're sat round the telly and obviously had tickets at the ready, well two of us had at least, the third hadn't put one on because he had forgotten to. We asked him what numbers he would have picked and wrote them down just to see how he would have got on, and the six he picked were the six that came out. And that, I swear, is a true story.
Back in 2003, Mr Q won around £700. We were a few days away from going to Cyprus and I gave him some money to change to the Cyprus pound and I worked out roughly how much we would have each. I went to work that morning and came back in the evening and Mr Q gave me the wallets which the money was in. I thought there was a little too much and I checked again only for him to tell me. Made our holiday much nicer having a little extra money.
I've only ever won £10, and that was the second week of the lottery.
