ADVICE: 14" tv-vid combi

I would like to get a combined tv-video for use in my bedroom. I bought one recently but the whirring noise of the video was louder than the volume of the set and was very annoying so I returned it.

the man in shop advised me that because the whole system is enclosed in a box the sound of the video will be louder than a normal video.

Is that correct, or is it becuase you are actually getting a cheap video?

Does anyone have a 14" combi that is quiet. If so, please advise asap - thanks
