Norton to take the helm then

Think he's due a change, Friday Night is pretty poor these days and Ross struggles if it's not one of his pals

One report says Graham Norton, Michael McIntrye and Mark Kermode all being 'groomed' to 'take over'. Total speculation, although I suspect Mark Kermode will indeed take over Film 2010. Interesting as Jonathan was only talking a week or two ago on Twitter asking people about Film 2010 and what they would think of a format change.

Ross was funny b4 the pc brigade got him. Norton is imho very funny and my fave host at the moment.

About time too, although I do NOT want to see Norton take the helm, he's a one-trick pony: "ooh look at me I'm so camp"

Apparently he talks about 'other considerations', hinting at a new contract.

However he says its not financially motivated and reveals that he could have worked for more money at a commercial broadcaster (Channel 4) during his last contract negotiation, but chose to accept less money to stay at the BBC. Something which was widely reported before.

Would be my choice too. And he actually goes and watches the films unlike some I could mention.......

We’d have to be prepared for a review of The Exorcist every week though!

Hopefully whoever replaces Ross will not recieve the same sky-high wages that got so many people's backs against him in the Andrew Sachs scandal. There is simply no need to pay out multi-million pound salaries in the current TV climate.

Well, at least it will save the BBC £18million per year.

God knows who could replace him. Norton is not in Ross's league whatsoever

I hope your happy Daily Mail. A watered down BBC...BOOORING

Excellent news, he should have gone years ago. How the BBC could have wasted so much of licence payers' money on such a talentless individual is staggering. No loss to the airwaves.

So, it seems the pitch fork brigade have finally won.

I hope the people who work for his production company are not facing the dole queue now.

Goodbye & good riddance. Today should be declared a national holiday. 'Grandad Abuser In Chief' should have been peddled years ago. Lets hope the rest of the national bores on fat contracts that are inflicted on the nation take the hint.

    :)

i'm certain it was 3 years

Former Cabinet minister Lord Fowler has criticised Jonathan Ross's reported £18m three-year BBC contract.

Whether it's £6 million or £18 milion, it's far too much for someone like Ross. The BBC needs to move into the real world, and pay real world salaries.

At least female guests (and us) won’t be subjected to someone old enough to be their dad, perving over them for 15 minutes to the discomfort of everyone except the highly paid host.

Another plus - Gervais will have to queue up for a spot instead of being on every other bloody show!
