Poker thread - what happened?

Saw the beginnings of a thread by someone claiming to be making money playing poker - but I had to pop out for a bit, and now can't find it...
Just curious - and I don't want to talk about bannings (if that's what happened) - but did he eventually reveal himself to be selling something?

Really I'm just curious to find out if he was genuinely doing it (Been making a steady profit from roulette myself, for about 5 months now)

Mods - apologies if this question is unaccepable - If it is, just delete it.

I was quite enjoying it. There's been poker threads before so not quite sure why it was vanished.

So did he seem genuine (I only saw the first few posts), or just a spammer trying to sell a method?

He just posted his blog. I don't know how many people looked at it.

    Quite innocent in my opinion.

I guess the opening post was thought to be spam, though I didn't look at the link in it.

It seemed genuine enough. I glanced at his blog and that seemed ok as well. Maybe I'm just a bit gullible.

Ah - OK thanks - I guess it was probably the blog that got it removed then.

Not sure if there was an angle or not but it seemed relatively benign to me.

Some players and people in poker media will spam mail people and message boards to get them to sign up to poker sites using a code that gets the spammer a bonus. Maybe something along those lines.

Come on then, spill! I was under the impression that a Roulette system was a gambling Holy Grail, and mathematically impossible.

It is. You can't win at roulette long term. If by some miracle he has been making a profit for 5 months things will soon turn the other way.

I've made a steady second income at poker for the last three years. Started off small, had a 5 figure tournament win and progressed from there.

It's a game of skill, not chance - unlike roulette/blackjack et al.

To be fair Blackjack can also be a game of skill. In fact it can be +ev if you can count cards.

Even basic strategy takes the house edge down to as low as 0.5% (depending on which rules the casino is using)

Well so far it's going fine.
I don't talk about it usually though, because of the reaction you always get if you mention 'Roulette system' - it's something I came up with myself, not one of the many commercial ones, and not 'Martingale', and it's working so far....
I started by depositing £20, plus the usual £20 freebie they give you to draw people in.
Since May, I've withdrawn just short of £1.5k, and still have over £400 in my account there.
If it now goes t*ts-up - well it's no big deal, I'm still way up on the deal - and not daft enough to put more money in once it showed itself to be unreliable.

GCSE match shows roulette to be unbeatable (long term) ;)

You can't make a game with 37 numbers, that pays 35/1 when you hit one profitable long term. It really is that simple. If you could there would be some very skint casinos.

    Oh Dear.

I hope for your sake when you inevitably lose, and lose big, you have the sense to walk away rather than chase those losses.

The only casino games you can make money from are Poker (where you don't play the house) and Blackjack (where you do, but if you're a card counting genius you can knock off their edge, which is getting incresingly more difficult).

Oh I can do the maths... There was some intense maths involved in getting my MPhys - I can work out odds no problem.
And I'm under no illusions - this is likely to go t*ts-up sooner or later - I'm currently just riding the wave.
I've already had out wa-a-a-a-a-y more than I put in, and I'm happy - Assuming my stake does eventually fritter away, that'll be it - I'll be out for good, with a very nice profit.

If you know the Martingale, you'll know that the fatal flaw is that you make only tiny profits for sometimes very large outlays, and you need pretty-much unlimited funds, and a table with no limits.
I have my own limit, a bit like a 'stop-loss' as used by shares spectulators - If my method 'crashes' (and it does crash - I have learned to accept that) I write-off only £59 - and I've (so-far) been banking significantly more than that, on average, between one crash and the next.
Currently have well over £400 in my account, which is a buffer of 7+ crashes - and so far in 5 months it hasn't crashed more than 3 times within a short time-frame.

I went into it with eyes wide open - and only risked £20 of my own money - and like I said earlier, I'm under no illusions of it lasting indefinitely - but whatever happens now, I'm already massively up on the deal, and I won't be putting any more in, if/when my account runs dry.

Like I said earlier - I'm already well up - If/when my current stake fritters away, I'll still have the £1400-odd I've already taken out - I now can't lose (overall) because I won't be putting any more money in.
I've done this from just £20 of my own money - and I had that back (plus more) the first night.
