... the internet has its downsides and it has porn. And more porn. And porn again. Did I mention it has porn? Oh yeah, and it has porn there too.

Positive in the sense that it shares a level of knowledge that was inconceivable in the pre-internet era. Negative in the sense that it can present a profoundly depressing picture of average human intelligence.

A force for good. We should be privileged to live in such an age. I only wish I could be around to see it's true potential.

The internet is so integral to modern business that if it was completely shutdown for a week you would see the global economy collapse. The likelihood of a complete system shutdown is minuscule though, unless there was a massive solar flare that fried all electrical components. At that point, the internet would be the least of anyone's worries.

    Pros

Online shopping has not only saved me a fortune over the years on products like CD's & Blu-rays instead of ripoff HM Thief, that deems it acceptable that they can charge silly amounts for a CD that doesn't come into the Top 40 category. Also various Gadgets & Books I have saved a fortune online. I don't really care if the company is using Tax Loopholes to give the lower prices. Online shopping has also come in great use if I have had a lot of blackouts during the course of the week and am housebound

I have been able to keep in touch with friends and family that now live in other countries

Watching shows at USA pace without adverts, for when there is often nothing on Sky or Freeview that I like.

Rips of films that I have purchased, as downloading a film in a format that I can watch on any of my devices, is quicker than ripping & converting it. Don't really give a toss if it is illegal, as I will only pay for a film the once.

Watching 3pm football matches during the pointless outdated blackout when I am not able to attend a match to see my favourite team, not that bothered about local non league teams.

I have been able to improve on my photography skills, through various sites, including a great bunch on the Photography Thread on DS.

I have been able to learn about my condition & speak to other sufferers on support pages etc. I have gotten more information from them over the years than I have from so called doctors.

    Online Banking

More porn than I ever thought imaginable

    Cons

Hackers (with exception of those that gave us those lovely pictures of certain celebrities)

Keyboard Warriors that promote hate to a certain race or group.
