Sonny Somers - durable chaser trained by Fred Winter, won two handicaps in 1980 at 18, the oldest age of any winner in the history of racing in this country.
Darcys Yellow Turk. Foaled around 1665 he is one of the earliest and least known thoroughbred stallions recorded in the Stud Book yet it said all throughbreds can trace their lineage back to him. For instance Flying Childers sired by Darly Arabian (foaled in 1700) has the Yellow Turk on both sides of his dam's pedigree.
Akehurst, John - Epsom trainer who died of cancer a couple of weeks ago aged 50 (RIP).
Best winner probably Capricho in the 2002 Wokingham Stakes.
Despite avidly reading the Sporting Life online news section, this is the first I've heard about John (Jon) dying. I see his assistant Lee Carter has taken over and wonder if there's any connection with any of the Carters who were jockeys back in the 60s/70s, W.Carter, L Carter and I think there was an R. Carter.
Kings Best. Stoute trained colt and sire of Workforce whose career was cut short after his easy 2,000 guineas win over Giants Causeway when he was injured in the Irish Derby.
Montelado - won two consecutive races at the Festival taking the last race of the meeting in 1992 (Champion Bumper) and the first race in 1993 (Supreme Novices' Hurdle).

Dormant.
Saddled 7 winners in 1994 including Balanchine (Oaks & Irish Derby) before stepping aside for Saeed Bin Suroor at the end of that year.
There was also an R. Carter. I suppose it's right that there have been a lot of carters attached to horses
Lomond.
