Welcome to Norwich - land of Olivia Colman, um... Welcome to Norwich: home of the first annual Great British Song Contest. Hark, I hear you call, what is this Great British Song Contest? Allow me, your host, EuanDesu, to explain!
About the Contest
In short, the Great British Song Contest (sponsored by Good Morning Britain and the Great British Bake Off) if the British version of Bundesvision. This means that each county in the UK sends in an artist from the county to represent them in the contest. For example, London could send Jessie J since she was born there. I will go into more details about eligibility later.
Since Bundesvision is the German version of Eurovision, it has many similarities to the contest, like the voting. You give 12 points to your favourite song, 10 to your second best, 8 to your third favourite, 7 to your fourth etcetera.
Rules & Eligibility
The rules are very similar to the DSFE rules, with some minor edits. Read these - you wouldn't want to be disqualified!
•The song cannot be longer than 5 minutes in length. I mean the actual song, not video.
•Former Eurovision stars are allowed, however cannot be with the same song they performed in the contest, or at any national pre-selection.
•The song CAN be one of which has made the UK Top 40 but NOT the Top 10.
•You may use songs from DSFE/YCNY.
•The artist must be from your county. I will not be accepting people who have parents from another county, or who are from another but living in your county UNLESS they moved to the UK as a child (under 13 years old).
•I will not allow entries released before 2005.
I think that is all of the rules - if anything else be sure to remind me to clarify!
Format
The format will depend a lot on the amount of sign ups we get. No matter how many sign ups there are, everyone will be getting two counties - NOT regions. For example, East Anglia would be Suffolk and Norfolk. If we get 10 sign ups, we will have 20 counties in the contest, meaning we can have 4, 5 county randomly drawn semi finals where we lose 2 counties each semi final to have a final of 16. That's an okay number, but hopefully we get a lot more!
If, some how, we manage to get a lot more than 10 people who want to play, then I will arrange quarter finals. Unfortunately I doubt this will happen - but let's wait and see!
Counties
Since there are a lot of counties in the UK, I think it would be a good idea to allow people to choose which 5 counties they want the most (then you can't complain if you get somewhere that has a very small music scene) and you will get at least 1 of them.
For a list of every county in the UK, follow this link.
Signing Up
So, I haven't scared you off? Great - so PM me with the 5 counties you want the most and I will see what I can do. Be aware that if we get less than 10 participants then the contest cannot go on; get signing up pronto!
If I haven't missed anything...

Yes, people have signed up.
The voting periods will be quite relaxed, and you can always have one county if that's the most you can deal with at the time.
Ah okay - Things should calm down for me soon and I will be off for two weeks
Ook I've added you - when you can PM me make sure you send me 5 countries.
Forgot to mention, sign ups must be in by 8pm Monday. If need be, I will push the time back a day.
