Watching Geti_player Downloads On Tv

Hi

New to these forums and to geti_player. Using the latter, I can download mp4s from the BBC website to my computer. I'd like to be able to then copy the programmes to a USB stick so I can watch them on TV. Are there any TVs or DVD players that are compatible, allowing me to watch the mp4s. I've tried my current DVD player and it says it the format is 'incompatible'. Any advice welcome.

If you post the tree view anaylsis of Medianinfo to see what the actual content is there will be a better chance of an answer. Alternatively post a link so members can have a look at the format.
They may have some sort of drm protection so you can't export them.

I realise some DVD/Blu Ray players can handle mp4s but can they specifically handle BBC ones extracted using get1-player?

.mp4 is.mp4 no matter where it comes from, unless it's protected by DRM or some kind of encryption.

    Not true

Almost any kind of data can be embedded in MPEG-4 Part 14 files through private streams. The registered codecs for MPEG-4 Part 12-based files are published on the website of MP4 Registration authority (mp4ra.org),[22] but most of them are not widely supported by MP4 players. The widely supported codecs and additional data streams are:[citation needed]
    Video: MPEG-4 Part 10 (H.264) and MPEG-4 Part 2
Other compression formats are less used: MPEG-2 and MPEG-1 Audio: Advanced Audio Coding
Also MPEG-4 Part 3 audio objects, such as Audio Lossless Coding (ALS), Scalable Lossless Coding (SLS), MP3, MPEG-1 Audio Layer II (MP2), MPEG-1 Audio Layer I (MP1), CELP, HVXC (speech), TwinVQ, Text To Speech Interface (TTSI) and Structured Audio Orchestra Language (SAOL) Other compression formats are less used: Apple Lossless Subtitles: MPEG-4 Timed Text (also known as 3GPP Timed Text).
Nero Digital uses DVD Video subtitles in MP4 files

If the OP would follow the advice to post a detailed analysis of the file contents then a more reasoned guess as to compatibility or conversion would be possible.

So called video containers can be a nightmare  :D

The tendency is to think of a video file extension .avi .mp4 etc as being a fixed format. In reality the extension is just a containing format with the actual content being nearly anything that has a codec to support it. Then there's the variation in resolution, bitrate and framerate within the actual video and audio codecs used.

To me it's just an mp4; how do I access this 'tree view analysis'?

    Install Medianinfo

    http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en/Download/Windows

Use it to open one of your files. Switch to treeview to see every concievable detail of what your file contains. By default you get a simplified analysis.

Copy to clipbboard and post details.
