Very heavy snowfall overnight in Aberdeen. Around 4 inches. Adding to what we had before, we now have a lot of snow on the ground.

Slight chance of a white Xmas too according to the weather for Saturday.

I was going to say, snow last night here in south Aberdeenshire too.

    *Sigh*

I do like snow, but I'm getting a little sick of it to be honest.

    More forecast tomorrow now too.

In suffolk last night it started snowing quite heavily. It really was a *gulp* few minutes as it fell from the sky in massive flakes.

But after about 30 mins it stopped. Its about 2 degrees today, so it will all melt again.

Is anyone else fed up of seeing the "Severe Weather Warning" and "Ice and Snow" logos continuously popping up on every single BBC weather report?

They've been on for so long now, it kinda goes over my head

As of yesterday there are now No "Severe Weather Warnings":D
and because we have just passed the Winter Equinox the sun will, very slowly,
Start to climb and stay a little longer in the sky minute or so every day.:D:):D

BBC News report vaguely irritated me last night

Reporter commented that the snowfall in the UK had now been on the ground for a whole week

    Erm, try nearly 2 months!

Heavy snow in SE Durham at the moment

just at the time when the highways agency tells Durham Council that they should only grit one third of the roads and are giving most of Durhams quota of salt/grit to other more 'important' parts of the country

In other words, councils should not be ready and plan for snow because if you are you get your stocks taken away for councils that didnt plan

Causing unbridled outrage on the local news I noted.

Well said too, just because Northern councils have prepared why should they give stocks away?!

We had about another 4inches of snow overnight (on top of the rest). Just finished brushing snow of the car when it started again and lasted for about an hour and a half. The snow is not far off the top of my wellies again. All around me here in Newcastle is snow .. snow .. snow!

My husband returned to his car for the 4th time this week and still can't shift it even though it hasn't snow since last weekend!

So until the snow has melted, the car isn't going anywhere!:(

Why can't you move it? I just clean the snow off, clear any dangerous snow from around the car and drive off. Is it all iced over?

Heavy snow showers falling here tonight.

On a long, hilly grassy verge. RAC has been out twice and no can do. The snow has to literally melt before he/they can try again.

Not always that easy. My car was stuck in our drive for nearly two weeks. Snow was up to my knees, and we have a fairly long drive.

No snow here for 2 days, but it's been down to -20 even during the day

Yes but that usually makes no difference to the average temperature until February. In the northern hemisphere January is usually the coldest month of the winter. Although it may be different this year (depending on the weather patterns).

Not so cold last night but (and every body needs one):p
Tonight is set to be the coldest yet, or was that just in Englandshire:(
This should be followed by strong Southerly winds with rain on it
giving snow showers heavy at times the farther east you are,:(
or so they (The Met Men) say.
A thaw by next week? can't come soon enough!!:D

Oh, that's interesting - once again a small distance makes a huge difference! There's a line of showers coming down the coast so you could well catch one. It's nothing much, but has laid on the car and turned the drive white where it had previously thawed.
