I would have thought that keeping the Glazers happy would be more important to him than 'winning over the fans'.
And if he keeps bringing in the bucks, they'll be happy enough.
Yes from his viewpoint keeping the owners happy is a key aspect of his job, but that certainly doesn't mean that us fans will be happy with him, if he brings loads of money into the club at the expense of improving the team on the pitch.
Now, he might not care about his popularity with us, but he would care about the on pitch performances if it began hitting him and the owners in the pocket via non-investments.

Well, obviously.
He's not going to completely abandon trying to sign players in order to tie up some more sponsorship deals.
I'm just saying that I wouldn't expect him to go splashing money on 15 new players, just to keep the fans happy. If the players are needed, I'm sure that he'll do his best to get them signed.
To be fair that wasn't what he was brought in to do. He's an investment banker who was brought in to get sponsorship deals which he has to the tune of a 40% increase. He's been at Utd for 8 years and last summer I suspect it all fell into his lap because of David Gill leaving.
That 40% extra sponsorship is millions upon millions which are what funds the buying of new players. He's not doing too badly.
Is the income on these sponsorship deals dependent on Champions League / Europa League performance / appearances? - i.e. TV and thereby international brand exposure.

im guessing no-one on here is a manutd accountant so we wont know but id be hugely surprised if they were.
Via Twitter Manchester United sign Goalkeeper Vanja Milinković Savić from FK Vojvodina
Well he had better be good, as that is one area where we are sorted for the next decade or so, perhaps an understudy to De Gea, Amos or Johnstone leaving?
Good luck to him though, and welcome to the club Vanja!
not the first signing I was hoping for if its true.
Who cares who the first siging through the door is? so long as the players brought in are good and strengthen the team I couldnt care less if the actual first was a decent backup goalkeeper for De Gea instead of Kroos or soneone. (not that I know who this guy is, but I'm making a general point).

Mr. Rooney won't be best pleased, I suspect.
I guess they're hoping that at some point in the evening Van Gaal will give a knowing wink to a camera.
Ok, now the club is just trolling us
They're marketing it as 'see Van Persie take on Valencia', but I'm not sure they'd normally pick this up.
Still more matches that are on the telly, the better I say!
I expect him to be on the transfer list by 10pm
It's a shame Young doesn't play for Ecuador too!
I think I can take a guess why they are showing this match...
Well as long as they keep it up, and show more, the better it is all round.

Expect a Valencia hat-trick.

I dare not post it in the Liverpool thread!
I'm not sure whether that is adorable or ridiculous.
Why - so you can rip it to pieces?
