Apparently it is justified according to some. But unfortunately whilst Israel is backed by the US things are unlikely to change.

It's sick. There are lots of people supporting Israel, saying that they should be free of terrorist intervention. Fair enough but the relative civilian death tolls tell a very different story, no matter how sympathisers try to dress it up.

The US won't do anything because it will mess up their Rapture plans.

There were many people making the same cries over Syria. The DS solution at the time appeared to be support "the freedom fighters, in their just fight against the oppressor", now their is a deathly silence from those who made the demands.

There is hardly deathly silence, its rather loud the condemnation, especially in the media. Did you know that hundreds of rockets fired by Hamas have actully landed in Gaza? Hamas use these friendly fire deaths as propaganda to blame Israel. Al-shifa hospital and Shati refugee camp are result of such friendly fire incidents, but everyone is too quick to point the finger.

Does Hamas warn Israel when it launches attacks? NO
Does Hamas offer medical treatment to Israeli civillians? NO
Does Hamas only target military and combatants? NO

I can not see how people support Hamas they are evil and only embrace death and encourage its civilians to become human shields. It is not rocket science, something which Hamas also seem to fail at judging by the hundreds of missiles that mis-fired and landed in Gaza.

I for one do not support one political/religious side over the other, however that being said, Israel should take the upper hand and stop now. This needs to be sorted out and in an adult manner. Also I do not believe that Israel is mature enough as a country to hold nuclear weapons.

I am more worried about the deathly silence from our government about the Ebola outbreak in Africa to be honest.

There is probably far more coverage of Gaza than all the other brutal wars going on across the world where many other innocents die daily. You should check out what is happening in the Central African Republic as an example.

Not excusing the Israeli govt or Hamas - just that there are other appalling conflicts and just cos they aren't on Sky News and CNN daily doesn't make them any less horrible.

Well I'm no expert on this situation but judging by the amount of Palestinian deaths since 1948 and pre Hama's there has been a pattern where every few years thousand of Palestinians die to only a handful of Israelis.

Also the fact that the land the Palestinians owned has been reduced in size significantly over the years which suggests genocide of a population, add to that the fact the people who have survived this invasion are imprisoned and don't have the same basic human rights as their Israelis counterparts. Add to that a huge silence from the big boys????
    Well what do you get?

With all of the media coverage bringing it to the fore, its gone on for decades. They are all the same people, same landmasses. It's only the religions that are different.Religion and Politics cause all the Worlds troubles.
20 odd years ago it was the Serbs and the Croats killing 100,000's, before that it was. ...........

So where is this "stolen land"? What you have to remember is that when Muslims and Arabs speak of "Stolen land", they do not mean a few bits of land here and there, they actually refer to the whole of Israel as stolen land, they see that an Islamic nation should be in place ruling over what is now Israel and this is why there will never be peace.

Hamas and all the other terrorist groups are simply state sponsored groups by likes of Iran with the aim to continue a terror and guerilla war against Israel

West Bank could have been back in Jordanian ownership had they signed a peace treaty, had they done so they could have continued with their own genocide and persecution of the Palestinians.

Gaza is completely self ruled, every trace of Israeli presence was removed from Gaza, that was done with promise of peace, but all it has allowed is groups like Hamas to build extensive military fortifications and tunnel networks, being allowed to stockpile missiles and rockets without fear of being caught by security forces and free movement around Gaza.

    Unbelievable :(

Destroyed the only power plant today, UN worker killed, bombed a refugee camp etc

So civilians are trapped in cramped conditions with shelters full, no electricity and food and water running out. The UN of course does nothing.

There is always a war going on somewhere around the world, so now most of it goes over peoples heads.

It is a bit like the appeals for famine relief...after a while you become de-sensitised to it.

I have been listening to it being discussed all day on the radio, admittedly with varying opinions but it was heavily discussed. It just seems to be those in power who are staying quiet .

The government of Gaza started the war, it is up to them to negotiate a surrender if they don not like the consequences.

This. Hamas can be blamed for the deaths of the Palestinians. If they stop sending rockets into Israel, then Israel won't retaliate. Not rocket science (no pun intended)

There's nothing in it for them that's why there's no involvement. I mean it's hardly a fair fight one has a flipping shield in place and the other doesn't. It's just heartbreakingly sad seeing all those children killed. Like the placard said "the fact I have to hold up a sign telling you that killing children is wrong, is really f**ked up."

Why doesn't the EU or any European countries do anything about the Israel vs. Gaza situation? Why have they not intervened or imposed any sanctions? How can someone sit on the sidelines and scream about the injustices when they aren't bothered to get involved?
