That's the rough number of poppies currently in the 'art installation' at the Tower of London.

It commemorates every Commonwealth soldier that died in WWI, as part of the 100 years since that war began.

As Harry Patch said - the last survivor of the great war - the generals committed mass murder.

So, on the eve of Remembrance Sunday, Danny Pink gives a speech about the rules of a soldier - to protect, to keep safe - that has nothing to do with with the ego of maniacs, or the whims of politicians, or the inbred will of aristocrats,

I missed the 'arcs' of previous seasons without realising that Moff had tied in the arc of WWI with a narrative of the nature of the doctor.

Honest: the whole season led up to the WWI honorifics.

What a cunning stunt, truly. I know some of you will want to spoonerise that, but holy shit I am applauding the guy right now.

    Yeah, I did think there was a nod to WW1 remembrance in that scene which worked quite well.
