The 92 men's final was on BBC2 because it always aired on BBC2. Wimbledon was as much a BBC2 property as Top Gear was/is. BBC1 shared daytime coverage, but it was BBC2's baby, regardless of whether 10m tuned in for the final or not.
Why was it on BBC2 - did it clash with another major sporting event? This was Agassi's nail-biting five-set victory over Ivanišević. Agassi always a popular figure here. But yeah, brilliant for BBC2 even in those pre-digital days.

Yikes! We can forgive MPD falling below a million, but what an awful bunch of ratings all round. Trojan Donkey is first-run entertainment - 1.1% share! PhoneShop at least has the excuse that it was shown on E4 ages ago. And those shares for CD and DOND, long before Murray stepped on the court. :eek: Brendan and CDWM too, both new episodes!

Had the weather not been as it was the ratings above would have been a bit more like normal, Corrie about 6 million and the Tennis might have gone up to 11 million average/ 15 million peak.
Many ratings this weekend will be effected as people get a life for once.

Due to the late slot, I think eastenders will do well to get 5million. A Corrie episode after an England match earlier this year got 5.6m. As ee is not as popular as Corrie, 5mill will be acceptable.
Well, E'dale was sub 4m at 10pm after World Cup matches when it was scheduled in that slot for a few weeks in 2006.

Wouldn't call MPD a cheap gameshow. It was in the early days when nobody won but nowadays most teams seem to go away with £50k or so, so it must prize wise at least be one of the more expensive on a per hour basis.
Sadly though the damage has already been done by C4 airing too much, too soon. Think they really killed it with those Olympic and Paralympic specials - airing against the Olympics.
This was advertised as a new series by CH4 and TV mags, yet it was the last series on E4 which was 2011!! When is the new series coming on?
btw - Family Guy - 28th July is the new series....I know there is "T in the Park", but this is a tad late. We're looking at December before the series finishes, putting us nearly A YEAR behind the US.
