I notice I hardly ever see threads on here about European pop music. I've been listening to a lot of it in recent times and some of it is quite good. The acts I listen to sing in English but that doesn't mean they're no good. I tend to listen to:
Monrose (Germany)
Caro Emerald (Holland)
The Raveonettes (Denmark)
Loreen (Sweden)
Robyn (Sweden)
PayTV (Sweden)
Helena Paparizou (Greece)
Darin (Sweden)
Emmelie de Forest (Denmark)
amongst others. What puzzles me is why none of them are popular in the UK? Are some people afraid of listening to something outside of Capital FM and the Top 40?

Also, Agnes Carlsson (Sweden) and September's (Sweden) songs aswell.
Also, slightly further afield, Ayumi Hamasaki is a goddess.
Never heard of him but he might be worth checking out. What kind of music does he do?
Inna's music is great to listen to in the summer. In fact that's when I listen to it most. Only September song I know is Cry For You as it was played everywhere when it came out! I was about to start university and that song was all over the place
Annie (Norway)
Le Kid (Sweden)
The Sound Of Arrows (Sweden)
Amanda Mair (Sweden)
Alexandra Stan (Romania)
Alphabeat (Denmark)
Stockholm Syndrome (Sweden)
Margaret Berger (Norway)
Tove Styrke (Sweden)
Icona Pop (Sweden)
Marie Serneholt (Sweden)
I think Scandinavians in particular just have an ear for good pop music. A lot of my favourite producers come from there i.e. Bloodshy & Avant, Klas Ahlund, Max Martin, Shellback, Patrik Berger etc.
Sakis does either ballads or dance, he's a little limited in that respect. He divides opinion for some reason, I have no idea why.
Anyway, for ballads try Ego Travao Zori:

And S'eho Erotefti:

And for dance Ola Giro Sou Girizoun:

Veronica Maggio, Håkan Hellström (both Swedish)
And a few more who sing in English:
Lena (Germany), She (Poland), Niki and the Dove (Sweden), Anna von Hauswolff (Sweden), Jenny Wilson (Sweden), Susanne Sundfør (Norway)
I had heard of Ayu. So I went and listened to a lot of her. She's clearly been watching Britney and Beyoncé.
It's incredible how Western pop music dominates the world sound now. They used to call that cultural imperialism but now it's just par for the course.
She writes and composes all her own songs, and..... and..... she's deaf in one ear.
I love her - she's my fave!!!
Her music and videos don't make me think of Britney or Beyoncé although she does have some big stage productions for her shows like Western artists.
Have you seen any of her trance remixes?
Band A Part from Spain

I have Ayu-mi-x 7 Trance and a couple of other tracks. Was listening to the Unite - Airwave Mix today. Great tune!
Robyn (Sweden, some of the best electropop in existence)
Marie Key (Denmark, she won six Danish Music Awards recently, her second album "De Her Dage" (These Days) is brilliant. Of course, as implied, she sings in Danish, not the most pleasant language, but if you understand the words, you'll understand why she's been so well received here.)
Medina (Denmark, she had a top 40-or-something hit in the UK with You And I, she typically releases an album in Danish, then releases an English-language album a year later, with original songs and English versions of some of the Danish songs.)
Nabiha (Denmark, too. She's more pop rock, and her songs are really, really catchy. I recommend Mind The Gap and Never Played The Bass.)
Oh Land (Denmark, electronic indie pop. She just released her third album WW, it's brilliant.)
I'm totally not promoting artists from my own country, no... :P
I like Trauma Dumonde remix best, it was on Ayu Trance 1 I think in 2002. Also, M Above & Beyond Remix and Surreal which I think was Marc Et Claude. They were all on Ayu Trance 1.
