This thread started with C5’s foolish decision to abandon 24/7 live feed last year; to try to keep alive the spirit of the old WHATM threads.
Now it’s used to echo Twitter and Facebook postings, for those who don’t have accounts, and for other useful links, as well as minor news that doesn’t merit a thread of its own, general chat, banter, gossip and recipe swapping. 310,000 views in 2011.
It keeps news together in the same place, so handy for people getting in from work/college who want to catch up quickly.
The thread worked well last time as there was no silly competition between FMs – if someone else is, say, posting Tweets there’s no point in you doing it too, although after say an hour you could post something like “Would you like me to take over?”, to which the correct answer is “Yes – thank you” so that as many people as possible can join in the fun.
Let the lunacy commence ......
