I found that looking round stores on eBay found some very good cameras sold under unknown brands but containing very similar, if not identical parts to their branded equivalents, often a lot cheaper than those sold by the big players.
This is the exact camera I bought and am very impressed with some of the results I've had from it.

Personally, no, but some people may say it's a definite yes.
As I said, the pictures I took were all taken at 5 million pixel resolution, and they're good enough for me.
