Irreversible (2002) contains one of the most disturbing scenes ever. That being a guy bludgeoned to death by a fire extinguisher until his face is flat, with the camera never shying away from the action.
The film itself isn’t disgusting. It is an amazing piece of cinematography, but this one scene is more horrific than anything I have ever seen, including actual footage of beheadings.

That scene is on youtube :D

The film also contains another rather unpleasant scene involving Monica Bellucci, but it isn’t a patch on the fire extinguisher!

The worst part of this scene, for me, is how at one point she reaches out towards the camera, desperate for help. It's practically breaking the 4th wall and it's horrible. It actually makes you feel helpless.

I don't find 'Braindead' shocking at all (maybe a little disgusting though!). Obviously it's one of the goriest films ever made, but it's all done in a very tongue-in-cheek, almost cartoonish way, making it a bit less disturbing for me than something like 'Irreversible'. Still, it's one of my favourite horror films for that very reason!

    Any of the Saw franchise!

Honestly I just feel completely squeamish whenever I was it!

What worries me even more is that someone actually thinks about them murders so vividly and then turns them into a movie!

oh there my favourites :D Thinking of getting the boxset, maybe for xmas..thats a good pressie lol

The most disgusting/shocking films are ones that show explicit/real sex like 'Deep Throat', violent ones such as 'Nightmare on Elm Street', 'Snuff'' etc.

You think porno movies (and for some reason you've listed a tame one from the seventies) - and Nightmare on Elm Street - are disgusting and shocking.

You really need to get out more, Philip. Both could be considered comedies... :)

OK, so what about animal porn then? Animal porn is legal in Denmark and some of these videos have found their way into the UK, I should know, I've known people who've seen them.

What about animal porn? Are you now just struggling to think of something more disgusting and shocking than the tame seventies sex comedy Deep Throat, and the good, funny but not really in any way scary Nightmare On Elm Street?

I think knowing somebody who has seen videos of animal porn doesn't really entitle you to say that this is the most shocking/disgusting film that you have seen. For two reasons - one, you don't give the title of this film/these films, so nobody really knows what they should be avoiding or looking out for, depending upon what floats their boat, and two, you haven't seen them anyway.

That would be like me saying "My mate watched Human Centipede 2 last week, that's definitely the most shocking and disgusting film ever." How would I know? I've not seen it.

To Chasing Shadows: Here's a link to an article on the animal porn film (I must warn you though, you may be offended by it)
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animal_Farm_(video)
Regarding 'Deep Throat' the film was banned for general release in Britain during the 70's but in some cases town councils allowed cinemas in their area to show a censored version of it. My friend saw the edited version of it in his local cinema. Later on, the BBFC passed the film uncut with an 'R18' rating, meaning it could only be shown or sold in specially licensed premises, and the edited version was released on video with an '18' rating. As I don't know which version of the film you've seen I don't really know what you consider tame. Also, bear in mind that Linda Lovelace claimed that she was forced to make the film against her wishes at gunpoint, and if this is so the film contains actual rape scenes.

Okay, so we're getting somewhere. You are talking about Animal Farm. Thanks for that.

Now then, you still only claimed that you knew some people who had seen it. So, how can you consider it the most shocking and disgusting movie ever made? You haven't seen it. All you've done is read about it. In fact, judging by your comment in bold above, you haven't even seen Deep Throat. Only a friend of yours who saw the cut version of it in a cinema in the seventies.

Regarding Linda Lovelace and Deep Throat - she claimed a lot of things in court and in her autobiographies, many of which have been proved to have been untrue. The porn industry isn't known for being full of friendly/cuddly directors who look after their stars - the reason a lot of porn stars die young is (1) because tthey get into the drugs scene at the same time as making sex films and (2) a lot have died of AIDS and other sexually transmittted diseases caught because they were not allowed to use contraception when making these films. So, Linda Lovelace is far from being the only female porn star forced to have sex against her will whilst being filmed.

And if she felt so strongly against being exploited in sex movies, why did she continue to make porn films long after she had left her then husband/manager Chuck Traynor. Also, her claims about Traynor holding a gun to her head during every sex scene in the movie have been refuted by all the other actors and actresses in that movie - including Harry Reems, her major male co-star, who prior to his death last year became a born-again Christian. If he didn't see any guns pointing at Linda whilst the film was being made, and he was the one being fellated by her, why should anybody else believe her stories?

Even so, both the cut and the uncut version are very, very tame compared to the majority of hardcore movies released over the last forty years or so. You have led a very sheltered life if you really believe it to be one of the most shocking and disgusting movies ever made. Even though by your own admission, you haven't seen it anyway.

As regards one of the films I mentioned; "Snuff", I would confess to having seen that, as it can be seen in full on the Internet (if you google Snuff full film or Snuff full movie you will find it). It is supposed to have been inspired by the Charles Manson killings & contains a scene added onto it at the end where the film crew is shown. One of them talks a young woman into getting onto the bed with him, fully clothed, for a bit of lovemaking, having convinced her it isn't being filmed. She succumbs to his advances and when she does notice it is being filmed and tries to resist he gets the other film crew members to hold her down while he cuts her shoulder open with a knife as she screams hysterically. He then proceeds to cut one of her hands off and the fingers off her other hand and then disembowels her. Although admittedly the rest of the film isn't that strong, this is certainly the most horrible scene I've ever come across and, yes, I did know somebody else who'd seen it, and was disturbed by as he thought it might be actually real. I must stress though, that it's been proven not to be.

Sound of music was pretty sickening & twisted. Imho it needed some girl on girl action, followed by lots of machines guns for the awful music in the film.

Oh yes, of course, and it was also extremely violent. What about the scene where a man spanks his daughter with a book? (lol):cry::cry:

BBFC put on their website that they considered giving Brain Dead a 15 rating when it came out due to the fact they didn't believe anyone would take it seriously-

    http://www.bbfc.co.uk/sites/default/files/attachments/Braindead%20reports.pdf

I would imagine it would be a 15 now, given Evil Dead 2 is these days, presumably for the same "no one is taking this seriously" reason.
