Stalker with Maggie Q (US Pace)

Think it's going to be one of those "need a few more eps to decide if I'm in or not" shows. Nikita's Maggie Q is starring so I thought it was a sure-in but didn't get that immediate wowness some shows give out. Feels like a show that could get very samey very quickly :(, hope to be proven wrong though. :)

Had one of the worst reviews i have ever read for a brand new show. Seriously, seriously awful reviews across the board. Avoid.

Maybe people should watch for themselves instead of being influenced by reviews.

    And?

When everyone is saying the same thing i think there's some truth to it.

I'm not saying the same, and at least I've watched it.

It definitely has potential. Sadly I knew who that baddie was but that's for reasons maybe other viewers wouldn't know. (Don't want to spoil it for anyone)

    I'll definitely be watching again.

People do seem to judge a unwatched tv show by reaction of the critic's more then ever nowadays.

Seen it and its not nearly as bad as made out (and better then some of the stuff the critic's have said is good).

Sadly in a age whyen they have way too much power i think they have ensured the show is axed within weeks

So if people started saying the world is coming to an end tomorrow, would you believe it, because everyone else is saying so, so that means there is some truth to it.

That's very a narrow minded and very ignorant way of looking at things, purely because of what other people say.

Quite enjoyed it for a pilot has potential and great cast laid enough groundwork for an ongoing arc

Good job everyone isn't the same then aint it or it'd be a very boring world.
I've not seen it yet i'll wait a few weeks to see if it gets axed or not.

Not to sure, like has been said, it needs a few episodes really.... I think I will get bored fairly quick watching a different stalker each week....

I guess the ongoing story will be that college guy stalking her and McDermott's wife and kid.

I thought it would be more about her original stalker, I think she knew the college guy would transfer his attentions to her if she went after him aggressively as she expected it to ramp up after the bout of violence from the other guy, she referenced something to do with his parents and how he relates to people can't remember the wording......of course I could be totally wrong

I thought it was a bit far-fetched, particularly the ending. There were too many women being stalked, not a single guy was stalked.

I feel like i'm giving this show more publicity than it deserves by talking about it. Hell, it's created by Kevin Williamson who made The Following and we all know how that turned out. Sure, that has its fans but jesus that was terrible and got ripped to shreds so is it any surprise this isn't being received all that well either.

Here a few excerpts from various reviews published in the US:
There’s really not much redeeming about “Stalker”. Even if it’s possible to get past the ugliness of the violence against women in the pilot, it’s hard to imagine that a procedural with such a tight focus won’t get old fast.
This shoddy program is nothing more than exploitative, misogynist trash....Is the pilot worth a look? NO. A thousand times no.
Maggie Q and Dylan McDermott star, but the question raised by the pilot is less whether you want to watch them than whether you want to watch a show that sets a woman on fire as an opening come-on.
    highly choreographed unpleasantness
There’s something desperate and torture porny about this show
doesn’t give viewers any good reason to stick around
possibly the worst drama of the season
insipid....deplorable....get rid of horribly disrespectful lines like this one, said about a stalking victim: "Laurie is a strong, ambitious professional. Being a victim is a sign of weakness, so she chose to ignore her fears." Right, kind of like how such sexist, sensationalist ideas are a sign of extremely lazy television writing.
Q was great fun in “Nikita,” but here she and her castmates are stranded amid a tired series of clichés....nothing about “Stalker” deserves to be sought out, much less found.
too predictable....Maggie Q and McDermott are competent, if not terribly interesting actors, and that about sums up the series as well.

If it gets picked up by a UK network i'll more than happily sit down and watch an episode or two and give it a shot to see what it's really like, but all you have to do is read the above to get a gist about the show.

This is my last post on the matter. Everyone else can enjoy the show.
So if people started saying the world is coming to an end tomorrow, would you believe it, because everyone else is saying so, so that means there is some truth to it.

Don't be so ridiculous! You're now being over-dramatic. They're not even compareable. It's 2 completely different things entirely.

No all you need to do is WATCH the show to get a gist about the show.

If you are unable to form your own views then I am sorry then you are correct all you need to do is follow what a random stranger tells you is a good tv show

I'm giving it a wide birth entirely based on this, I made this decision two episodes into The Following, myself & Kevin don't share the same tastes when it comes to watchable TV series.

It had a very steady pace to it. I was expecting more thrills.

I'll give it few more episodes, to see if there will be more variety in their cases.

You sure you actually watched it?

The guy being stalked was a big part of the episode.

Well, I watched it and don't shoot me, quite enjoyed it. Not saying it is the best thing on tv but it was OK and I will continue to watch it and see how it goes.

I like a good range of TV. I like series' that are more complex and you have to sit and watch but also like easy to watch more predictable stuff. Just depends what mood I am in. No doubt Stalker will be more down the easy to watch side, but I don't think that is always a bad thing.
