    The man is dead and he did a hell of a lot of good in this world as well as being a superb actor.

    Yes rip. long and productive and happy life. personal tragedy and sadness towards the end.

    in hollywood he was a "gentleman" (like david niven, terry thomas). a rare achievement when you think how pushy a film maker has to be to get anything done.

    i am not a fan of his biopics which are overlong and turgid and non cinematic despite all those oscars .......
